I put my sealed moroso battery box where the spare tire used to be... PICS of it would be hard to do...Basically Involed some creative cutting of the spare tire holder...light hammering of the area and then welding up a base for the box to mount to....

BUT my plastic covers all of it up and you would never know its there unless I told you..

Since your from cincinnati maybe Ill see you at a cruise in or at the strip to show you in person as Im from cincinnati as well...

I put my optima in the rear passenger side seat well, to lower th polar moment of inertia. I made a 3" aluminum strap that bolts to the seat belt holes.

Maybe not strip tech, but dragging is really that fun or my cup of tea. SCCA rules state that: Relocation of the battery or batteries is permitted but not into the passenger compartment. If the battery is relocated and the original battery tray can be removed by simply unbolting it, the tray may be removed, or relocated with the battery. Holes may be drilled for mounting or passage of cables. Longer cables may be substituted to permit relocation. The number of battery or batteries may not be changed from stock. The area behind the rearmost seat is not considered to be within the passenger compartment.

But if you only have front seats, the battery is behind the passenger seats.

throw it in either side...preferably the spare tire side and use a drycell. you'll be fine at tech inspections no matter what anyone says. if your running so fast it's a problem or racing that much for money you wouldn't be asking.

definately go drycell though, no need for large ugly boxes and it's alot safer. more power output as well.

whatever you do make sure your power wire is tucked up and hidden well on either the underside or inside of car. many have left it inside the car, i ran mine on the outer edge underneath. you can pick up most of the relocation parts dirt cheap through many different places. i welded a tray where the tire used to be but it isn't necessary. just a piece of mind for myself so it wouldn't move.

i've been running an interstate red top battery for almost 4 years now and it's been very nice. no holes to drill for vent tubes and you can reuse all your interior pieces if needbe since you don't have to have a big battery box.

good luck with it.

basically how mine is...i just used a cheap $5 tray though with mounting points for a bar tie down on the battery. tacked it in place with a few choice welds to keep from drilling holes and was done.

basically same thing, looks much nicer that way.

like 92 zzz28 it's an enclosed model, 'sept mine isn't vented with the sealed Optima. The re-lo kit does include the hardware though. I installed a bulkhead fastener to get the wire thru the firewall, don't just drill a hole and stick the cable thru.

Actually it kinda does now that i look at it closer. But that must be a huge battery or some optical illusion because it looks like its taking up the whole well.

... it's in the rear trunk area.

As far as the switch, you can kind see it next to the right tail light
