How exactly do you adjust the front struts?

the tab on the top of the strut can be turned with a plastic key that comes with them. you just adjust them to where you see fit. it's a pretty common design, similar to the yellows. my qa1 billet struts have the same design but they are 12 way positioning.

I don't see the tab you're talking about. I also dont have that adjusting **** either, heres a couple pics:

To adjust koni reds : First go and buy some koni yellows and just adjust using the **** provided!

Koni Red's are adjustable.. I have a set right here that I'm selling and it has adjustable engraved right on them.. Try compressing the strut all the way and put what ever bit will fit on the top and press down and turn.. I beleive that's how they are adjusted.. Yours seem to have an alan bit at the top unfortunally for me mine was a torx bit and when I was removing them from my car I rounded the damn thing out and theres now just a circle on the top

I stand corrected. Everything I had read said that reds were not adjustable, but I guess that what folk meant was that they had to be removed from the car for adjustment.

my koni red struts have a **** on the top of the piston that you turn with the white key **** thing it comes with.

1.5 turns out from full soft is pretty good for the street depending on the springs, full soft at the track for weight transfer

alright, from your picture it looks like you would need a different "key" of sorts or an "alan" wrench to adjust it. my koni re/orange struts had a plastic tab at the top in place of the hex looking area. i could use a plastic key to adjust.

same with the koni reds on my gtp.....just a little plasti "key". there is a tab at the top of the strut that slips into the key and you turn to adjust.

go to their website or email the company you bought them from. you should have gotten some sort of key with them. for future reference so long as the adjustment is at the top like that they can be adjusted on the car....assuming yours is adjustable in which they should be.

Off topic for a sec, but what year GTP do you have Kandied? We both have 91 Z28's, I have a 99 GTP, thought it'd be pretty funny if you had the same year GTP also

few little tricks to it though. pretty identical to this but with giovanni racing wheels. sorry for the pic, kept it small so the mods wouldn't complain..

That's the old style Koni reds.. The really old style. I bought a set of those 'new-old-stock' back in 97 and the were all ready the old style. When one went south 2 years later I cashed in on the warranty. They had no replacements remaining so I got a set of brand new matching 'new style' with the adjustment on top.

To adjust those, it's the opposite of the rears. Compress them fully and them turn them clockwise. I don't remember them clicking like the rears, so you will have to turn them back to lock and them count turns.

Hahaha and all this time I thought my reds weren't adjustable. Here's a question though, anyone ever seen just rear reds (shocks) for sale? Everywhere I look they only sell them in sets (front struts/rear shocks).

Ah ok that woulda been funny! They are nice cars though, losta space and they move pretty good too.. I find it funny how the GTP is as fast as my camaro..

Yeah really weird, they're only sold in sets. But for some reason the previous owner of my 91 only did the fronts... really weird. The rears were dead OEM replacements. Oh well, I got Tokiko's now so I guess I'll have a set of front koni red struts for sale soon ..

Summit Racing will sell them to you in pairs, so you can but just struts (front) or just shocks (rear). A little known fact is that they sell both reds and yellows. The yellows aren't listed in their catalog or on the website, but a manufacturer part number from http://www.koni.com and a phone call will get you what you need.

Yep I bought my reds several years ago I set at a time. The fronts came with a removable ****.

Forgot that they came with a warrenty. Would Summit replace them? Never thought about it.

the shocks and struts from summit are all priced individually.

my reds were 96 bucks and change each the struts were like 12x.xx each

My fault. I couldn't remember for sure if they were sold individually or in pairs. I bought mine (yellows) a pair at a time. Sorry for the misinformation.
