Incorrect rear shock lower hardware
Anybody have trouble getting the right hardware
with the rear shocks to bolt to the axle?
The only ones I found that had the correct hardware
so far were the Monroe Sensatrac.
This was on the car when I took off the axle and those suck.
The kyb gr2s had lower hardware for a different axle.
They punched it up in the cpu and said it was for 86 camaro.

Car: too many ...
The bottom of the shock should have one threaded bolt at a 90 degree angle to the shaft. Behind the bolt there should be a bushing. I dont remember exactly but I think its between a 14 and 16mm nut that goes over the bolt. The bolt should slide through a tab welded to the housing of the rearend, then the nut goes on and tighten. There are alot of choices that can be bought online, Tokiko, Koni, Bilstien, etc.

The shocks that I looked at had bushings on both sides.
Thats good.
The kyb gr2 they where going to sell me had the
wrong hardware thats the problem. The hardware
had 2 bolts one big with a nut already on it and one small
without a nut.
I told the salesman thats not for my car and showed them the
correct hardware, that came with the monroes(which
are shot), but they punched it up on the cpu and checked
the numbers and said its correct.
I dont want to order online and have the same problem.

Re: Incorrect rear shock lower hardware
Can confirm that the KYB gr2's come with the wrong lower hardware, however the nut and split-lock washer included with the KYB's threaded onto the old bolt and bushing, so I just used the old bolt and bushing with the new nut and washer and had no problems. If your old bolt is in bad shape however this would be an issue.
