any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D720102&N=700+4294925022+115&autoview=sku

these appear to be a very cost effective, good looking set of springs. any one have em heard of em or used em? i also like the fact they lower is 1-1.5" rather than 2" like eibach ect

get some ramp extensions....work real slick. Makes it a lot easier to get on the ramps (safely) if you have a manual tanny too.

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

Um my camaro sits a lil higher than stock in the first place cuz of our KYB shocks. ive never had problems with the car being to low. the only pic i have of post installation is this one. It was a lil after 630 so not to much sun. The springs have been fully set and ill get a new pic tomorrow for you.

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

Sadly i do not. Summit just says "The progressive-rate springs will lower your vehicle between 1 in. and 1.5 in. depending upon the application."

Thats an exact copy paste of the info on them.

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

The stance in that picture looks great. The car is definately lower than stock, maybe not lower than really old stock springs, but...

I am borrowing IROCz85's picture, it shows a better shot of the factory ride height, and my car in my sig too!

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

I just installed these a few weeks ago. I have to say that they have been a perfect choice for me. Cheap and effective... Ride quality is also much better than it was with the Moog springs I put on less than 2 years ago.

Its the best suspension mods I have done so far. I give these springs 2 thumbs up for the modder on a budget. Also, if you have any problems, Summit will gladly exchange them even after they have been installed. I know from personal experience. I didn't index them as perfectly as I should've (whats an inch or two, right?). Well, they said if I couldn't get the ride height even'd out, they will swap them with a new set no questions.
God I love living less than 20 min from Summit!

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

And for the record, w/ the moog springs (after break in and after they settled) my ride sat at 28in at the center of each wheel well.

After the swap, my ride sits at 26in measured at the same spot.

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

indexing the springs... I had the bottom end of the spring about 1.5 inches outside of the 2 little holes on the A-arm that are used as a reference on where to put the end of the spring.

That little 1.5in difference added nearly 1.75in on the height of the passenger side of the car. Weird, eh?

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

Im not sure about him, but i have KYBs keepin the summit springs in check. i lagged it with the recent pic, but ill have someone take the pic tomorrow. To try and give you some insight on how they've effected me, before the springs i could only take a 90degree right turn at about 35mph with out hearing tire squeal and earlier today i hit the same turn from work at 45ish and it was very confident both in and out of the turn.

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

from what i can gather Summit springs are actually hotchkis springs w/ the summit logo on them... this is only from comparing pictures not spring rates.. but they look very similar and don't match up with any other springs from eibach or moog

Re: any experience summit 1" lowering springs?

I heard they were the same as pro-kits. The advertised drop is the same. Sam Strano on ls1tech has used a set and i think he said something about them being the same as pro-kit. I would do a search on there. I think ill be going with a set for my gf's T/A.
