Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

Hey I have a set of 17x9" ZR1style SS rims and i was looking for a good handling tire i can afford, and these seem pretty promising. I plan on getting 275/40/17 like on stock 4th gen SS camaros.

Anyone running these tires? Are they any good? Anyone recommend something better?

Subscribing.....I need new rear tires (but not the fronts, strange )

I was planning on getting HTRIIs next week, sorta. It seems Discount Tire doesn't carry Summitomo & on the NTB site.....You can't browse by brand, it seems.

He Josh I work at Sears auto and we are a Somitomo dealer. I used to sell tons of htrz II's and they were a good tire but they didnt last very long about 25k and they were toast. The III must be the new version of the II. Im not familiar with this exact tire however overall Sumitomo makes a very good product. You might look into the Falken ziex 912 too. It was 1 consumer reports last year but its reasonably priced. Thats the same tire i have on my roc and i luvem.

The Sears site only shows Sumitomo HTR+ - P275/40WZ17 for Sumitomo, not the HTR II or III.....

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

Yes the Sumitomo HTRZ II as far as i know was discontinued and this is the first ive heard of the HTRZ III. This is either a brand new tire or Sears just chose not to tell us about it , one of the two. Oh yea the Sears.com site kinda sux it does'nt have a lot of stuff on the site we carry. Thats the Sears way....go half way. Lol
Later Matt

Tire rack has the II and the III.

Recently bought a set of Sumitomo HTR Z, really like them so far. Got them in 255/50/16.

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

ok so they seem decent. Good price. Now i have another problem. I have a set of 3 9" (SS)ZR1s and a set of 2 9.5" ZR1s.

Should i get 255/40/17 and 275/40/17 or 275s all around?

Would the different size rims cause a problem?

(I could get another 9incher but i can't find any used ones)

Get 275s all the way around, at least. 255 is good for the stock 8", too narrow (IMHO) for a 9" wide wheel.

I like my 275s front/285s rear

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

thats what i was gonna do 275s, 285s but there are no HTR Z III's that run are 285s.

Will it be bad to run 275s on different width rims. although its only a half inch.

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

Hey
Just so you know there is no in the the middle quality with Firestone its either great or crap. My wife had a set of Firehawks on her Sentra from the factory they did great 60k on oem tires unheard of but they did it. Then i had a customer with the exact same tire that had 3 blow outs all at different times!!! I would'nt run Firestones if it were me. Did you check into the Falken 912?

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

I work for tire kingdom (which is either NTB, Merchants, or Big O Tire) and yes the website sucks!!! and unfortunely misleading! Ya I say that and i work there so please go into the shop and talk to the guys we sell a ton of the HTR Z III really nice tires and depending on how you drive is how long they will the the III are asymmertical and the II's are directional but neither come with a mileage warranty and I havent heard anything about the II being discountined but its possible. go with the III you WILL like them i havent heard anything bad.

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

I have HTRZ II in 275/40 Z18 on the rear of my 91 RS. I have not personally run the III's but i can say the II's are plenty of tire for the money. I got them last summer from Tire Rack and I have not been dissapointed. The large directional sipes and grooves work well in wet conditions. They are a summer tire however, and I can say the cold weather traction is poor.

Re: Sumitomo HTR Z III... anyone have these?

I don't drive my camaro all that much so im really just looking for a cheaper tire that performs. I have another 9" ZR1 on the way so Im definetely going to run 275s all around. WOOH!

I think im going to go with the Sumitomos. Im checking tire rack for others. Im gonna stay away from firestones.

How bout these? Little more pricey.
