I Need Subframe Connectors That Go From The Lower Control Arms To Tranny Mount Area.
I bought Steve Spohn's Subframe Connectors and figured they would go right in without any problem, well as soon as I got the car on the rack I noticed they wouldn't work with the headders I have on the car, so I figured that I would be able to shorten them and make them work, but then I noticed that the notch for one of the Y connectors was on the wrong side, and then noticed that If I put them in I would have no option for exhaust since I have Hooker Super Comps.
I have ruled out Spohn's subframe connectors, and I need to find out who makes Subframe Connectors that go from the lower control arm area, to the tranny mount area. Does anyone make what I need, or am I going to have to make them myself?

Comp engineering SFCs(weld ins) go from crossmember mount to LCA mounting(REAR subframe) I have a set sitting here because I didnt want to dimple my floorpan to install them. Ill trade you with some cash being they only sell for like $90 new(think I paid $110, but I didnt shop around) I would really like that set of spohns if you want to do a partial trade. Mike

What is it about the Spohn SFCs that keeps them from working with your headers? And what do you mean by "the notch for one of the Y connectors was on the wrong side"? The Y pieces are butt-welded, there are no notches in the main rails for them. If you mean the small notch on the outboard side of the driver's side rail, it's to clear a bolt on the body.

By the way, as a Spohn user you'll instantly notice something when you get the Kenny Brown SFCs.... they don't have to weigh freaking 50-lb. Just another reason to think 'Kenny Brown'.

Try Alstons. They connect between the frame next to the lower control arm and the tranny mount area. I have dual cats and the only problem I have is the outlet pipes of the cats are very close. I'm in the process of finishing the job and reinstalling the exhaust is the last thing. I might have to notch the pipes, which I don't want to do.

The only reason I can't use Spohn's subframe connectors is because I have a 454 squeezed into my 86 z28 and the collectors come out right by the rocker panels and the subframe connectors are would alomost go into the header collector. I already ordered alston's connectors, I think they should work, Thanks

I have been working with Lemons headers in California for a custom Tri-Y design that will dump by the tranny and have 2-1/8 primaries instead of the Hooker header's dinky 1-7/8 primaries. You can find the thread under the Motor Swap section. They are in the process of making a template from the set they made for me. Call them up and talk to Dan if you're interested. Their web site is www.lemonsheaders.com
