Founders Rear LCAs Installed
Got them installed tonight. Took 4 hrs to do the the passenger side (damn SFC bolt alignment) and 30 mins to do the driver side. Test drive will have to wait til tomorrow.
Anybody know the torque specs for these things?

not real sure on the specs but id imagine around 40ft-lbs or so, needs to be pretty tight but not so tight as to crush the center bushing. Honestly, i installed mine with an impact and a lock washer. Works great, rides better, less tendency to break the wheels loose in a corner too.

I would think the torque specs would be the same as the stock values.

Torque goes with hardware size, as always.
If memory serves on what size bolt it is, should be something in the 80-90 ft-lb range.

Re: Founders Rear LCAs Installed
Thanks for the responses. I saw another post from "Foundersperf" or something that looked like it might be someone from Founders. The post was about relocation brackets, LCAs, and panhard bar. Anyway, they said 93 lbs or somewhere around that, but it wasn't clear which piece they were talking about.
For now I've tightened as much as I could with a rachet and open end wrenches (no breaker bars participated). I'm going to put a torque wrench on them tonight.

If they are grade 10.9 bolts the 97.5 foot/pounds for zinc plated and 87.75 for un-plated. If they are grade 8.9 you will want to be 65.25 foot/pounds plated and 59.25 for the un-plated. Make sure when you re-torque the bolts to loosen them first so you get an accurate torque reading. These are the factory hardware size of M12 x 1.75 pitch.

Yes they are grade 10.9 zinc plated. These torque specs are for dry bolts. If you use a loctite (I don't recommend) you will want to lower the torque specs by about 10%.

Got them torqued to 97. Seems awful tight, even stripped one of the nuts, but I got them there. Went for a spirited ride and what a difference they made. I really like them. Now to fix the coolant leak that showed up as a result of the spirited ride.

My bad - I just looked at my bolt torque chart again and I told you the torque ratings for the grade 12.9 bolts we use for another part. The torque rating for the 10.9 bolt should be 83 foot pounds.
