UMI Releases New Product- Bolt In Rear Shock Relocation for the Camaro/Firebrid

Bolt-in Rear Shock Relocation Brackets for the 1982-2002 GM F-Body
P/N 2047 priced at $39.99/set

UMI Performance, Inc is proud to introduce our P/N 2047 GM F-body bolt-in rear shock relocator kit. This kit rotates the factory style rear shock to reduce the common problem of lower shock mount binding. The shock is relocated to a double shear mount and pivots freely about the lower bolt. An innovative, TIG welded lower bracket holds the shock in double shear and works with standard axle mounts as well as with most common relocation brackets (spacers included). Drilling two 3/8” holes is required (no welding). The P/N 2047 kit accommodates a standard 1-1/4” wide shock mount and has ½” diameter mounting holes. Hardware is included. All UMI components are 100% manufactured in Philipsburg, PA-USA.

Sounds like a good idea. Can you get a picture of one installed?

What's the distance between the top and bottom shock mounting bolts on a stock height set up? How much does the bottom bracket lower the mounting location?

Could be promising, but it doesn't look like it lowers the shock mount.
Looks similar to what Matt (mw66nova) did - his pic attached. This looks to just help with some possible "bind", not lowering the mount point. The 'tongue' would be longer, if it lowered the mount point.

Hello,

We don't have a part # to sell those separate but I am sure we could do it. Price would be $89.99.

Also as mentioned above this isn't a shock lowering bracket. It just rotates the shock 90 degrees to prevent shock binding. It leaves it in the same location.

Thank you,

Would you explain how the existing shock mounting binds?

Wouldn't this configuration create shock bind if the axle is not parallel to the chassis - like hitting a bump??

There's not much point in using this set up unless you replace the stock rubber parts with spherical bearings. That's what gets rid of the bind. Hence my questions. These brackets just make the installation easier and look pretty cool too.

Re: UMI Releases New Product- Bolt In Rear Shock Relocation for the Camaro/Firebrid

in my case. im swaping out the stock set up for rear coil overs.
and wanted a larger pad. inplace of the springs.

i have the 1QA rear coil over set up. And the kit they sell has a smaller pad for the top Mount. Im sure its fine. But I wanted to make sure..peace of mind. sort of thing.

my car is stock height. With 28inch tall 13 inch wide tires tucked under..325 50 15 Mickey Thompson drag radials. Any other time I run Mickey Thompson sportsman pros 12.5 29 15
