installing heads

ok guys, i got a few ?'s. First, i want to do as much as possible to my 91 RS 305 tbi A4 (i want to see 14's) so anyway, i am planning on buying some s/r torquer 305 heads crane cams powermax (270/276 440"/.454) and a edelbrock performer intake, along with 3" exhaust and 3.73 gears anyway, someone wanna give me a prediction on what kind of times i'll see at the track with this setup. and on the installation, my uncle is a car guy and does tons of work on his cars so i have someone reliable to help me install, but am i gonna have to pull the engine to do this stuff, and if i do, how difficult is it, i want to know, cause i dotn have tons of money and i want to save as much as possible.
thanks for any info you can give me.

Jeremy

no, you won't need to pull the engine. If you have never done this before you better get some help. If you run a chip with that much duration you will need to do some chip tuning.

RSstocker,
I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but for the money you are talking about spending you could have a 350. Check out this part number 12513151. It is a GM motor with good internals for about 1500.00. It will even come with a warranty!! Just my .02

BTW... I built my 305 and it was fast but nothing like my 350

Also do you have to worry about emissions?

Let me tell what I did with my 305. I bought a set of ZZ4/L98 aluminum heads and a ZZ4 cam. I used MAC headers and cat back along with a built 700R4, converter and 3.73 gears. The motor made 272 RWHP and 315 RWTQ. It was very streetable and cost about $1050.00 with a computer chip for my new set-up

With the 305 i was running 13.80's-13.90's @ 100-101 mph. That was with skinnies up front.

I just looked at what I wrote. The price was for the heads and chip and gears. The Exhaust cost $600.00 more. Sorry for the screw up. I was very tired last night.

To do a top-end job on a motor IMO it is easier to pull it. It really isn't difficult to pull the motor, and it makes it so much easier to work on.
