Venom VCN-1000 TBI nitrous kit questions

Venom VCN-1000 TBI nitrous kit questions

I've decided to get the Venom VCN-1000 N45-129 tbi kit in the near future because it's the only way I could make a lot of power while still being able to pass California's emissions test.

I wanted to know if anyone has used this particular Dry nitrous kit.

I've deciding on the Venom kit because you program the vehicles computer which turns on and off the nitrous flow when armed depending on the air fuel ratio readings from the O2 and TP sensors. I like the fact that the computer runs everything and acts like a safety device by shutting the nitrous off if the air fuel gets lean and the kit also,uses the two throttle body injectors for extra fuel instead of using a separate fuel solenoid.

The Venom-1000 kit seems safer and simpler to install and use than the NOS 5153 tbi kit and for around $650 I think it's a good deal.

if your going to spray, make sure your fuel pump is up to it, you might also consider upgrading that before you run the nitrous.

not sure about the venom kit, does it have a FP saftry switch build in? if not you will want to get one, so that if you fuel pressure starts to head south, it will shut off the nitrous. from you description , it sounds like dry kit, i always sort of worry about them on our cars, personaly i would only run a wet kit on mine. *when* i upgrade my tranny, i'm goona run a NX wet kit, with a jacobs nitrous mastermind controler, IMHO that is about the best, safest way you can do nitrous, it has all the saftey checks built in (window switch, FP cutoff, ect.)

In the kits description it says, the nitrous is controlled by a microprocessor control module that automatically terminates the flow of nitrous if the air fuel ratio gets too lean. That's one of the main reasons I like this kit because it eliminates the need to buy a fuel safety switch or jacobs mastermind which is very expensive.

This kit has the safety features built in and I like that it comes with a driver display panel showing the air fuel ratio.

how is it pulling the A/F ratio? the stock o2 is horribly inaccurate at anything other than 14.7, at the 12.3 you want to be running on the nitrous, the factory sensor is basicly usesless.

From what I've read from others who have installed the system, the O2 sensor is not very accurate but, it only needs to know rich from lean. There's another member on this board who installed one on a friends car and he said that the Venom kit installed very easily and has been working very well.

the thing i worry about , is what AF is it basing its rich/lean on. if it will let you spray at 14.7:1, that could be disasterous. and if it can't accuratly tell 12.3:1 how will it know if you are really lean from where you want to be.

I'm going to look into the NX kit also. I don't want to spend to much over $750 or so.

IIRC the kit is about 550, then a jacobs mastermind is 250.
