Oil in air cleaner!

I opened my air cleaner and low and behold there was a whole mess of thick oil covering the pass. side crankcase vent tube's little air filter. My K&N filter is half soaked in oil now. I cleaned it, but it appears to be a lost cause, damn, i'm gonna miss that 20 extra RWHP
My guess is too much crankcase pres. due to bad rings/vavles.
I bought a new litttle vent tube filter and houseing to guage how fast this problem(s) are pumping oil into the air cleaner.
150 miles later, just a small amount on the vent fillter. What gives?

How can this be stopped?

Any valve/ring engine snake oils available that will help me get by for a while. (Till the DRM C5R block arrives...)

Switch to an external push-in breather and I'd replace the PCV valve too just for a start.

A little oil is normal. It tends to build up over time. Your air filter will catch it. Just use a push in breather on the passenger side valve cover and that problem will go away.

I'd check and replace the PCV valve if that hasn't been done in a while..

It may just need a good cleaning. Spray some carb cleaner in there and make sure you hear it rattle. Spray the cleaner liberaly until no more funk comes out.

True, but a PCV valve costs what, $3? But yeah, you can try cleaning it first if you have a can of carb cleaner handy

Replacing the PVC was one of the first things I did when I got my car (like, litterally the next day) cuz' I heard from a few people they don't last so long. Not sure if it was true, but for $2.xx I figured wouldn't be a bad idea. As far as the oil buildup, I don't have any pictures of it but the way my breather works is I still have the stock one (from the old intake) and it rests up against the side of my open element. You can tell where it was on it with the filter out, but so far it hasn't seemed to have hurt my car at all...

When I bought my RS I had to same problem. For some reason there was no vacuum in the throttle body, so for 2 nights I sprayed throttle body cleaner into all the little holes and such. Afterwards, I had vacuum and the oil stopped spewing into the air cleaner.

Update:

I forgot to mention that I had replaced the pcv vavle first thing.

Oil is def. coming out of my vent tube.

Lack of vaccum in the TB itself can cause this?

What can be done? Any magical snake oil that can help?

when you mention, "little holes" do you mean you unplugged all the hoses from the TBI and sprayed into where the hoses plugged in??

also, what size push-in breather would i need to buy for the passenger valve cover?

You want to take the TBI unit off and spray into the passages. You will see that passages undernieth once you take it off. It is a bunch of channels that can collect funk over time. The hole is a 3/4". You can use and press in breather that is that size.

Can this cause the car to fail emissions testing?

Can carbon/ junk buildup in the TBI itself cause emissions failure?

More importanly improper engine operation, poor economy, power, durability?

It won't affect emissions all that much but it will affect the last things you mentioed. Drivability, power, mileage etc.

i used a few cans of carb cleaner on my TB when i disassembled it. IIRC my passages were caked with oil and i ended up soaking the base for awhile. good thing i had EZ off oven cleaner.
