Best bang for the buck on TBI mods?

Have owned a few TPI cars, but just bought a '93 Chevy 1/2 ton with 350 and TBI. I've read the tech articles, and already ordered some Edelbrock shorty headers from Summit. I would like to get a supercharger kit one day, but for now, as is a daily driver, real world mod ideas wanted.
Thanks,
SC

You're on the right track.Headers,Rearend Gears,Cam.Easy things are,Open Element Air Cleaner,Pulleys.A custom chip and a cam will make a big difference together.Relocating the IAT Sensor to a cooler location is worthwhile.Check out other questions on this forum.

Relocating the IAT to a cooler place does the same thing as adjusting fuel pressure. The only difference is that it's 10 times easier to adjust fuel pressure for a best mph in the 1/4 than it is to "relocate" your IAT.
I'll have to say the easiest mods are the ultimate TBI mods in the tech section and an open element. Next would be the adjustable fuel pressure. I'd do that before or during the header install. Basically your car will want more fuel and the ecm under light throttle will say: BLM ~132 or more after the open element and headers. When you go WOT the ecm defaults back to 128 which is obviously lean = bad for WOT and PE mode.
Do it right the first time. You'd be suprised what some simple things like fuel pressure will do for a car. Most guys that go from TPI or TBI to carb never thought about playing with fuel pressure or injector size. It's like slapping on a carb and not tuning it. Oh well, definatly go open element, worth the whole $15

nitrous!!! best part time bang for the buck

for all aroudn use you will get the biggest gains from a little bit of gear, a full exhaust, and an open element air cleaner.

Thanks guys. The truck's got a factory 3.73 posi rear. The Edelbrock headers will be here tomorrow. Going to order one of those air-raid high flow intakes/filters. Anybody know where to get one of those vacuum-referenced adjustable fuel pressure regs?

Thanks for the part number...I'd rather get that one from GM for cheaper than the JET one.

I have a 92 GMC 1500 stepside with the 350, 5speed factory option. As you know the redline on the truck engine is 4500 rpm. It feels like its dead by 4000rpm. What woke my truck up was the LT1 roller cam. The truck block has all the provisions for the roller cam but didn't get it. I just bought the LT1 cam, roller lifters, spyder cradle, pushrods and valve springs from a 94 LT1 Z28 and put them in my truck. The difference is nothing short of incredible. It runs strong and clear to 5500rpm now. I run Edelbrock headers and random technology cat with dynamax catback. I ran a paxton supercharger (wish I had it with that cam) on it for 4 years too so email me if you want to talk about that too.

I like the idea of the LT1 cam. The cam isn't a direct swap for my '93? I thought the roller lifters, etc were the same. If they aren't, does anyone make a cam for my block with same/similar specs? Did you put on the Edelbrock or GM tbi intake manifold, also? Are those manifolds worth the money?
Thanks,
SC

you cant really maximize hp and torque with single mods, it takes more of a package. you want an fuel press reg, and a open element. but you hear people on here saying "WTF my headers only gained me 1/10th in the 1/4" they dont understand that if you thow heads, intake, cam an headers at the same that you will get much more bang for buck then doing individual mods. i gaurantte that is you added heads, intake, cam and heads speratly on a dyno, and after each run raplcing it with the factor and adding a different mod, and added up the hp gain on each mod it would be much lower than if you used them all at the same time. however this bang for the buck is like compairing a shotgun to a bb gun. yeah the shotgun will cost more, but you will definatly get more power. so if i were going with "cheap" mods i would have to go with NOS. i dont know anouther was of pending 550$ and getting 125hp, if anyone here knows, SHARE THE WEALTH.
