UPDATE: I talked with the foundry today and they looked over the tooling. At least they were receptive to doing the test pour, but at what price? I dropped the tooling off with them and agreed to do three test pours with a follow on of 10 units if everything like the machining to include the price was good. So, I will have three units for sale if the pours go OK, but that would still be at least three to four weeks out. The foundry is supposed to call me tomorrow with a quote and hoping that they don't get stupid on the pricing. More as this evolves, but at least it so far it looks promising and going in the right direction.
Called my machinist today as well and had a chat about a game plan for the machining and some changes I wanted to make to the manifold. He said when the pours are ready we can discuss what changes he thinks need to be made as well to produce a quality unit. He did laugh a little and said... "this isn't Eddy Motorsports and I don't let junk go out the door"! So, everyone that is interested, hang on a bit more and we'll see how this pans out. I'm going as fast as possible and want everything right the first time on this project.
If anyone has information on the AC bracket (hole/position) that was talked about earlier, PM me and I'll see what needs to be done if possible. During the machining process is when this will need to happen, thanks.

UPDATE: The local Arizona foundry was a bust because they wanted way too much per unit to pour. I'm waiting to hear back from another foundry that sounded much better on pricing, but we shall see.

I wonder what Edelbrock would charge to pour them? I believe they did many of the Marine Vortec manifolds as well as the Scoggin Dickey TPI Vortec base.
I tried Edelbrock years ago and we almost got them to pour it, but at the last minute they backed out sayin' it was too complex and time consuming for them to pour. I guess I could call them again and see if they will do it this time and maybe machine it as well.

I have found nothing on the bracket you speak of and I also contacted rBob on this forum about that to see if he could shed some light on that, no joy either. I have the GM manual on the 83 firebird and the 82 camaro. I saw nothing on the bracket or placement in either manual. The 82 and 84 corvette is different.

UPDATE:
There has been some renewed interest in the Renegade. I have received mail from a company and have also talked with them and they are interested in the Renegade manifold. I have no idea where this is going at the moment, if anywhere, but the interest is definitely out there. Maybe the Renegade will be once again produced by a "Quality" company that can actually machine a good product. If anything happens, I will post up the outcome either way.
Any new information on the Renegade intake? I saw the pictures of the core boxes. Doesn't look that complicated. Do you have any more pictures? I have worked in foundries most of my life. I might be able
to shake a few bushes to see if anyone near me is interested in pouring/machining this.

I guess now would be a good time for an UPDATE on the Renegade project. I have had MANY talks again with the local foundry here in Arizona that poured the original castings way back when it started. We came to an agreement on price per unit, but I may be able to get it a little lower, who knows. I have to do at least five test pours or first articles as a foundry calls it. These pours are for quality and pours issues. If that works out, then the machinist that I have been talking with will start the machining phase and since I lost ALL my previous machining tooling fixtures and G-code, I have to start from scratch again. This process may take a little bit, not sure on a time frame and I'm not going to rush it and then have a huge mess on my hands once again. To complicate things, I was in the hospital recently with serious issues and came close to dying. That issue kicked my bodies *** and I'm still recovering from that and still not 100%.
Unfortunately all this has been a very slow process, much slower than I would like, but that's the reality of a project this large, lots of things to consider and to get right this time around. I just thought I would give you all some info on this. Have a great weekend.
