Classic cool DIY TBI cold air intake

After getting bored of this https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tbi/...ir-intake.html I wanted a more classic TBI look.

Its made of a JY LO3 firebird/camaro housing, a taller TBI truck lid, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G3000B/?rtype=10 cleaner base and fiberglass.

Someday I will get this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SPE-9751/?rtype=10 to replace the improvised aluminium duct hose.

And of course it has the taller filter used in TBI trucks. (it has slightly more filtering surface then a 14x3")

Re: Classic cool DIY TBI cold air intake

that looks sweet! looks like alot of fiberlass work. is that part coming off the cleaner base made of fiberglass too? how did you go about making the mold? looks like a very good fabrication. any in process pics?

Re: Classic cool DIY TBI cold air intake

Yes fiberglass. I sculpted the mold in "sagex" and brocke it out once covered with fiberglass.

No time for progress pics unfortunately.

Not really, I whanted the bowl shape towards the TB for effective air charge/flow.

Most bowl shaped ones, still go straight down the last 1/2 in, basically the same as the summitracing flat base center I used. I would probably replace it with a perfect bowl if I find one.
