There's a tech article on this site that describes how to remove the limiter by using a switch. You could also go to the DIY prom forum and do a search. You can eliminate the speed limiter, as well as do a whole lot more by getting into butning your own chips. I just have to question why you need to be doing 100+ mph. Do you road race, or just speed? I don't know how it is where you live, but here a buck plus is automatic license suspension. Off my soapbox now. Check out the tech articles and go from there.

I was on my way to Pheonix from Tucson one day and i just had to pass a trucker that was in front of me and at the time i was going 85 when i decided to pass him I steped on it and got all the way to 110 and that is how i fond out that i had a governer.
and by the way if you have ever driven on the freeways of any of the west coast citys you would know that if you want to go with the traffic you have to go at least 80 but most of the time 90 so if you want to pass somebody you will have to go faster then 100.

ahhh... Montana..
Anyway, This one time, at band camp.. Okay, outside Las Vegas I was putting along at 90 and everyone was passing me, trucks, cars, motor homes and cops!! On some of the desert Highways, the normal flow of traffic is crazy fast..I don't even think my post had a point to it. I'll stop now

As for the speed limiter, it is actually a fuel cutoff point set in the PROM, and is based on the VSS input. Incidentally, ALL cars have a speed limiter. If your car was orignially delivered with the 16" 'Z' speed rated tires, the limiter programming should have been set at 254 MPH - the highest numerical value that can be programmed into that parameter. Essentially this "speed limiter" is "unlimited", since not many of our cars frequently break the 250 MPH barrier. If your car was originally equipped with 15" wheels without 'Z' speed rated tires, you should have the speed limiter set at about 110-118 MPH, depending on the year and PROM.
You can burn a PROM with a higher number in the limiter parameter, or install a factory RPM from a car with 16" 'Z' tires. If your engine is basically stock, the factory PROM might be the easiest solution. However, since it is relatively easy to customize PROMs, there are many more advantages to burning your own and raising the speed limiter setting.
