Am I Missing Something, This doesn't seem right??

OK, I was just thinking that when I do my cam/intake swap, I'm hoping for low 14s. I'll be adding a Comp 268XE 477/480 lift and the Stealth intake idle-6800 rpms or so. I've got 3:73 posi, headers and a cat-back.

Now a stock 5.7L TPI with 2:77s or so, manifolds, and stock cat-back can run a mid 14.

Now I'll have a better cam, better gears, way better exhaust, and my intake will breathe better at higher rpms, so why am I only hoping for low 14s, shouldn't I be able to hit 13s.
I run a 15.32 @95mph on a G-Tech right now, but I have a slipping tranny, by letting of the gas and shifting I ran the fastest time, so I understand that's hurting me, but with a fixed tranny are 13s possible?

with the rebuilt tranny and the cam you should be into the high 13's unless you have traction problem.
which I believe with stock rims and street tires could be a problem.
is your rearend differential open or posi?

You should deffinately be in the 13's. LG4WHORE its says right in his sig 3.73 posi, but I dont understand how your tranny is slipping if its been rebuilt? Unless you paid to have it rebuilt and its already slipping again in which case that sux. 700r4's are expenssive.
BTW if you dont already have it a higher stall tc will help sinifigantly to.
Later Barrett

Yeah, I got a good deal on the tranny rebuild but it is slipping. I have a vette servo and .500 boost valve to install sometime to temporarily fix the problem.
A higher stall TC is planned for Xmas. With that I'm hoping mid 13s.

for one thing TPIs have much higher compression than your gooodwrench 350.....i believe in one of your other posts you said you have 8.5:1 compression version. that makes a difference. also i would think the tpi heads are flow better than the stock heads on the goodwrench engine.

by the way a cheap tranny rebuild is not a good deal if it doesnt fix anything and the thing still slips.

Well, I didn't have OD before the rebuild the increased mpg paid for itself. Yeah, it has 8.5"1 compression.
The heads have 1.94/1.5 intake valves.

Are the heads on that motor 72cc? If so do the math and mill them down as much as possible to achieve 9 to 9.5-1 when you clean them up if you don't buy vortec's.

I'm not positive on the cc's , I thought it was lower than that but I could be wrong.

Your heads are either 72cc or 76cc, most likely 72cc. I know the replacemnt "according to vin" for older trucks come with 76cc heads and I was told that the car motors came with 72cc, still its like wizzing in the wind either way since you know you have 8.5:1.
