timing wire ..help me out here

The tan wire with the black stripe I guess...Where is it located along the wiring harness....looked ,but did not see...where should I be looking exactly.. Like to be sure I get it unplugged before setting timing..oh yeah,, 86 lg4 t/a

You don't have that.

You have a carbed car, so instead, you should be following those instructions, instead of the ones for FI cars.

Look at the distributor body; you will find 2 hanrnesses coming out of it. One has 3 wires and goes to the dist cap. The other has 4 wires and connects to a pigtail coming out of the big harness that goes along the back of the engine bolew the dist. You need to disconnect the 4-wire one. Do that, then crank the car up (it will run terrible and light the Check Engine light) and set the timing, then hook the plug back up and clear the light.

Passenger side, firewall. Near the A/C box, if you have A/C.

Hoping it wasn't that connector....tough to get to after putting on plug wires, vacuum hoses and oil sending unit.... and what if I have a cam break in to do, should I set the timing later AND JUST FIND A SPOT WERE IT RUNS SMOOTH UNTIL CAM IS BROKEN IN?
