Sometimes when I go to start my car it won't always try to turn over on the first time. Sometimes it will take up to four turns of the key before it tries to turnover. It's not sluggish about turning over when it does... it still runs good too. What could be the cause of this problem?

does the starter solenoid click when you attempt to turn it over? You may need to clean your connections around the post on the starter.

If it is clicking, sounds like you may have a bad spot on starter motor.

i dont think he would have a bad spot on the starter, if he did it would drain the battery to get it to turn and make a grinding noise.

take your starter n replace the solenoid on top, should fix you right up =]

Not neccesarily. A bad spot on the motor would not drain the battery unless it was shorted. If the starter motor has stopped at a bad spot on amateur that is open, it would take a few turns of ignition switch to get it to turn over. I have saw it many times over in the shop.

well not to say your wrong but I had a starter in my winter beater and what I explained above was exactly what its problem was.. it was taken apart by me and a mechanic friend that has alot of expierence with starters (i wanted to learn) confirmed..

a bad spot will suck-up more juice from the battery to turn it over if a gear is on the bad spot on start-up.... I put in a new starter, works great.

I'm not going to argue, I'm just speaking from experience. You may have had a short-not a open like most do. That would cause drain of battery quickly. You can drive with a bad spot on motor that has a open for long time, not recommended, but it can. Its all basic electronics, thats all I'm going to say. Don't understand what you mean if a gear is on bad spot, there are no gears INSIDE a starter. Only what contacts flywheel.
