engine life
Guys, I'm curious to know the engine life of camaros, particularly rs's. The one i'm looking at has 170,000kilometers, how long do the engines usually last?

Car: 89 Iroc Z Cnvertible
Engine: 409 SR
Transmission: 6 speed
All depends on how the car was treated. I'm the second owner of my 92 V6 and its got 235,000 miles on it and still running great. My 89 305 is in dire need of some help, I am the 6th owner of this car. It's a convertible and has been ragged on probably since the day it came from the dealer, it's only got 103,000 miles on it. So it really depends on how well the car has been treated. Most times IMO if the car has been kept up on the exterior then the car is in good shape, where as a car that looks like **** probably runs like ****.

Car: 88 Firebird WS6
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42
I'm at 175'000 on my 88 RS.
No-one ever pulled the valve covers (not even me)
It never leaked and still doesn't.
Still runs great except it needs valve seals for the small (it's really small, but i notice it) puff of oil on startup. Compression is good. Change oil every 3,000.
On 2nd starter and 4th alternator. 6th distrib and rotor, 3rd plug wire set. Orig tranny not rebuilt, orig fuel pump, orig fuel filter (I know, but the fittings are stripped like they loc-tite'ed them or something.... Hey it still runs good!)
It just depends on how it's maintained, and maybe some luck helps.
