High rise intake manifolds
Hi everyone, I was wondering what kind of high rise intake I could get that would be emmissions legal? I am interested in getting one because I am thinking about getting a 4inch cowl hood from glasstek. I don't want to get a 4inch cowl hood and then not have anything under there to back it up! Or if anyone has any other ideas to use up space under a cowl hood and make it legal for emmissions.
Thanks for any input,
Tony

might help if you'd say if you have Fi or carb. i'd look in the jags catalog and see what they have, should be noted if it's legal or not. far as i know egr is about all you'd need, but it depends on the laws in your state.

I know that Edelbrock makes a Performer EGR and I think Wiend
has a version of there Stealth that has an egr.I think they`re
low rise intakes but you could use a carb spacer.

I don't think your going to find one. High rise intake are considered race parts, so the companies will not file or test for CARB legality.
Why do you want one anyway?

Since you haven't bought the hood yet geta 2inch and put an aluminum intake off of an L69 on it. (as I recall the lg4 were iron) and call it a day.

I wanted to get a high rise intake so if I got a cowl hood I would actually NEED a cowl hood instead of a wannabe. Also I wanted a high rise intake for better performance thats all really. Thanks for the input from everyone. I think I am gonna go with something smaller like a 2 inch from usbody.com

Well IMO the 2in looks better, and if you get all of the ducting inside the hood you can still set up the ram air deal. The ultimate would be to find a repro 69 z28 or vette cold air, air cleaner. Since that is not likely Go find yourself the largest (diameter) mid-60's air cleaner that you can. Cut the center out of it and tack-weld in pretty much any kind of aftermarket air cleaner. That will give you a ring around the aftermarket cleaner that you can glue foam to and make it a cold air intake. You will still need a piece of fiberglass/carbon fiber/aluminum to fill in the space under the hood that mates up the it though. If you take your time and do it right. It will look factory, and you can WOW your buds.

Single plane intakes are not good on the street, unless you have a big cube motor where the low-end power is already abundant.
Its not a good idea for a daily driver, street mobile or pretty much anything that will ever see the street. But if is a all out drag car, where gas mileage and you don't want low-end power, by all means go for it.
