anyone running seamless aluminum fuel line???

just picked up a 25' roll of 3/8s line for PJs GTA. Is this going to be okay to be used on the street as long as its clamped down well? Have you guys that are running it had any problems, or comments. I took all of the stokc plumbing out and was planning on running this but I thought Id ask first and make sure you guys have ahd good luck with it.

No problems with mine in the last six years Randy. The nice part is it's easy to bend around where you want it. I just put mine in the stock location and clamps.

I knew that you said you were running it les, but the guy at winners circle got me worried by telling me that it was not good for the street, so I thought Id ask around.

although, I still would like to know from someone who actually drives theor car, how its held up. lol, j/k man

I was gonna ask this too, but I figured if they sell it, and many people use braided line, it must be ok.

Just make sure its away from anyplace someone might jack the car up.

btw, this weekend I am installing a 1/2" feed line and 3/8" return line made of the stuff, so it better be ok!

i just went with 3/8s, assuming that would be fine for a street car with a mechanical pump, and a small amount of NOS used rarely(hopefully)

Won't aluminum melt faster in a fire? Of course fire's dangerous enough to a car, but this might make it a little more? Don't park over any weeds or dry leaves.. not like you do that now, but...

I'd be CAREFUL using aluminum line on the street. Not that I wouldn't use it at all. Just be CAREFUL.

Here's why: Aluminum line rubbing against another metal part will wear a hole in the line is a SCARY FAST HURRY! It has nowhere near the scuff resistance of a steel line. So make sure the clamps you use are lined with rubber or plastic- not metal on metal. And make sure you don't run it near anthing that it can rub against as it vibrates or as the chassis flexes.

I wore through an aluminum fuel line once in only 5000 miles of driving. It was rubbing ever so slightly on a hole through the frame which it passed through (I duplicated stock routing). Suddenly I'd have puddles of gas waiting under the car every time I went out to start it.

I picked up some of that nylon spiral wire bundle stuff to put on the line in potential rub areas. I just put the Al line on the '57 this spring, but so far, no problems. It's a joy to work with compared to steel.

ADEL clamps will hold it nicely. i would stay away from gas driers like HEET, alcohol corrodes aluminum rapidly.
