Roller rockers from Summit...

Ok, so I have the LG4 engine, which is like "Lift? what's that?" so I am looking at 1.6 rockers. I found the following two at Summmit, and I was just wondering if they look half decent to you experts, and if they will work with my 416 heads without machining or anything.

Both links go to the same part.

Regardless, I wouldn't bother. For that $159, you could get a real cam. You will most likely need at least new valve springs, and depending upon the final at-valve lift, do some guide shortening.

agree 100% you can get twice the power gain for half the money with a new cam swap, including new valve springs.

Don't be a *****... pull the timing cover and intake manifold and swap the camshaft.

real men swap cams not rockers

Oops.. the other link was supposed to go to a crappier $100 version.

Anyhow, I do not intend to keep the 305 for a really long time, so I was thinking I could just do the rockers to keep me happy for a while.

The thing is, I dont have access to a shop too often, so a cam would be a buttload harder for me to do. If I remove the radiator, I can swap the cam with the engine still in the car though, right?

Well I'll do some research and find out what cam I want and then ask some questions like whether or not I will have to change this or that part and all that.

How long would a cam take for a first timer with the help of his shop teacher?

At what kind of engine mileage do you forget about a cam swap? Or, do you go by a compression check and let that be your guide as to whether you swap a cam or just go for a complete engine rebuild?

Thanks!

Oh yeah... Good question. Mine has 130,xxx miles on it. that's why I was thinking just rockers for now, because I dont have much money and I just want to have some funwith this engine before I get a 350 next summer...or the one after that...
