Walk me through changing my oil pan please.

So my oil pan is pretty much crap. I def need a new one, and would rather do it myself. So what are the steps I need to do, to cover this task?

Help is greatly appreciated.

raise the engine as much as you can, might want to remove cap or distributor. unbolt oil pan, might want to drain it first, turn crank as needed to remove pan. i'd use a one piece gasket. what's wrong with the pan you have now? they hardly ever wear out?

I dont know if a previous owner let it sit in the grass and weeds or what, but it just leaks like a son of a bitch, maybe its the rear main or something, but I am pretty sure its the oil pan that is shot.

Might want to find out where the oil leak is exactly before you start replacing parts. Raise the engine up, clean off as much of the gunk as you can with a good cleaner/degreaser. Get the UV dye kit from a parts store, drop some in the oil, and hit it with the light and goggles when you start to see the leaks. The UV trail will tell you exactly what's leaking. Pans don't leak unless you've got holes in them. Maybe it's the oil pan gasket, maybe it's the oil coolant lines, maybe it's the rear main seal, maybe it's the oil pressure sending unit, maybe it's the intake manifold, maybe...and the list goes on.

It just might save you a few bucks in the long run, to find out exactly what's leaking.
