revised 1010 head gasket
Has anyone used this fel-pro gasket yet? If so, has it held up?

Funny you bring this up.
I have replaced my cam and/or heads several times in my '87 TPI and have always used Felpro 1010 head gaskets with great results and no problems.
Last year, I built a 395 cu.in. stroker and used the 1010 again. However, I have an oil leak above the starter motor which actually appears to be coming from between the head and block at the number 8 cylinder.
What is different about the "revised 1010" gasket????

I don't exactly know other than the way it looks. The revised gasket is black with raised blue lines on it. The old one was a printoseal looking one, light blue with black lettering printed on it.
Apparantly the old ones had the fire rings fail on them, hence the revision. The reason I ask is that I just used a set on an engine I'm about to swap into my car. I heard over on the DIY PROM board to stay away from 1010's.... after I installed them.

Anyone else used these? I would rather replace them now while its on the stand, then again I'd rather not spend the money if these have no issues.

I've used them with no success. Maybe your results will vary. I have built engines for years though using Fel Pro and never had any problems until I used the 1010's in 1993 and its been downhill since.
There has been more than one revision. There's the old school blue style, later embossed style (thats the Print-O-Seal style FYI), and I heard they made yet another revision. There were probably more than that.

Ahh, son of a gun. I wonder what the chances of getting summit to exchange them are?
