Ignition issues
Ive been havin problems with the bird for a while, the other day it cranked and wouldnt start. I let off and it wouldnt crank again i thought it was a wiring issue so i rigged the key so it was stuck forward and played with the wiring to the starter, i eventually got some smoke from somewhere. Now it doesnt respond at all when you turn the key, and when you jump the solenoid it spins the starter but it doesnt engage to the flywheel. Any help or direction with this would be great.

sounds like its time for a new starter...
Possibly a sticky solenoid, but to replace the solenoid is almost the price of a whole new starter.
I would say drop it out and at least take it in and have it tested.

Well the starter and solenoid are both less than a year old.
