Re: power windows
could be, or could be extremely dirty tracks. Take the door panels off, and clean out the tracks, and re-apply white lithium grease to the tracks/runners and see if that helps. It should.

Re: power windows
If at one time, they were operating normal, then you may be looking at window motors that are getting tired. But, rarely have I seen that they both operate slowly at the same time.

Re: power windows
i just talked with 1A auto and they said that it is a myth that window motors go slowly. they either work or don't. he told me to lube up the tracks. thanks for the info.

Re: power windows
My driver side window was very slow, and kept getting slower. Then it just stopped. Turned out to be the switch. Now it's much faster.

Re: power windows
I'm sure your parts dealer is knowledgeable. I wonder if he has ever owned a thirdgen. My personal exp., however, is that mine operated slowly at first and then ceased to operate at all. My exp. could have just been a fluke. Replacing the motors fixed the problem. I hope you find more info that will help you. I have benefited immensely from other thirdgen owners on this site.

Re: power windows
They are slow compared to current vehicles. This may sound hokey but after telling my mechanic how very slow my windows had become, he sprayed some wd40 down the "glass slot" and my speed picked back up to what I remember as original.

Re: power windows
wd40 will evaporate and will go back to slow relatively quickly. White lithium grease is a grease compound that will not fade, will not go away, will not evaporate. Just a FYI.

Re: power windows
Does anyone have a step guide to replacing the power window motors?
My left one refuses to budge at all, right works very slowly for 2-3 secs and then stops, it needs 1 min and then it does the same thing.
Im not the most knowledgable when it comes to cars but can definately folow a step guide pretty well. Better to get someone else to do it or try it myself?

Re: power windows
Saying that about a window motor is liking saying starters dont go out, they altogether quit. Or a blower motor, etc.

Re: power windows
It looks like one of my guys over here was a bit incorrect on his statement (I'm one of the customer service managers over at 1A). I do agree you can have a slow or dying motor, they may have meant to say that lubing up would be a good idea to try. I know these cars are getting old too, so sometimes its a good idea to make sure all electrical connections are in good shape (like the grounds). Sorry if my guys are passing off incorrect info, shouldn't be happening.

Re: power windows
Thanks for the correction. We all make mistakes, but at least you had the guts to try to reaffirm what most of us already knew. Good job.
