HELP check engine light rapid blinking back fire>>>>>>

i have the 86 camaro, lg4. i just had heddman headers (no a.i.r.), y pipe, no cat, and 3" flowmaster cat back put on. the whole ride home, about 15 minutes, car was fine. time to test the new exhaust. so i did a few holeshots, and it sounded pretty good. driving away from my last burnout, the service engine light starts blinking rapidly, motor starts cutting out, and the fasten seat belts light blinked as well. i took my foot off the gas, and camaro idled like normal. put my foot on gas again, same thing. then it went away for a block, then did the same thing once more. i ***** footed it back home, about 2 mins of driving, and it was fine.
what could it be??? ses light went away right afterwards each time. it just blinked rapidly. the fasten belts light came on at the same time, but i was wearing my belt. the old a.i.r. vaccuum lines were plugged, and the plug wires do not appear to be rubbing the headers anywhere.
what could it be??? please help, this is my daily driver.

Just a guess, but have you checked the alternator? Weird things happen when the alternator starts to go. Everything you talked about sounded mechanical, maybe something to do with your new changes, but the seat belt light makes me think its something else maybe.

Sounds like something is either losing a ground or something is shorting against something else.
If you just did a bunch of exhaust work, I would start looking at the starter first.
Make sure your wires going to it are tight, and that they are not hitting anything and grounding out.

Can’t remember if it receives power only when the ignition is in the start position, or if it still receives a supply voltage all the time and is only allowed to complete the circuit when the ignition is in start position.

Its just a thought.

Let us know what you find.

Its worth a try to check. One way or the other I'd say the biggest suspect is electrical.

Yes. I would imagine that could be deadly to the ECM. It would certainly cause the ECM to reset every time it got zapped.

i covered the o2 sensor wire with duck tape where it would hit the plug wire boot. havent had the problem since.
