91 rs w/ 305
yeah im thinking about buying a 91 rs camaro with 127,000 miles with a 305 carb. and a 5 speed but theres a problem.
it starts up fine but after about 30 seconds a bunch of white smoke comes out the exhaust and stays like that what could be the problem want to have an idea of what im getting into before i buy it.

Re: 91 rs w/ 305
that would be the traditional 305 valve stem seals......
personally i would buy a pair of heads bring them to a GOOD machine shop and have a pair fully rebuilt with the good seals,3 angle valve job and some performance springs, screw in studs and a set of 1.6 rockers you will be golden

check the computer - it did not come with a carb but with tbi, so look to see if the chip is the right one for the carb.

Hopefully it's just a cracked head otherwise its the block. Are you sure it's not blue smoke?

Yes, white smoke is coolant getting into the combustion chamber. Check for white frothy oil, which means coolant is getting into the oil as well. Possible sources are cracked heads (pretty likely), leaking head gasket (not quite as likely, but still possible), or cracked block (not very likely - more likely to get into the oil than combustion chamber from a cracked block).
