Another "which heads" question.
Only this time I'm the one asking it!
I'm going on pre-deployment leave (army) in may and I want to have some fun at the track in my two weeks home. So I've come to the conclusion. I need 2 things: A higher stall converter and some good heads.
I've got a reman. 350 bored ~.060 with stock internals except for a cheap summit 1103 cam. I ran a 14.1 with my current setup. What heads, combined with a 2500 stall torque converter, will get me well into the 13's?
Keep in mind I really don't have time to do much else to the car, so a simple bolt on deal is a must.
Thanks.

Like LJ asked, what is your budget? As well as Patriot, Dart, World, Brodix, and RHS also have good stuff at an affordable price.

Re: Another "which heads" question.
Well, I'd like to keep it in the ~$1k range. I considered vortec heads, but I really don't want to get another intake. While that is a good price for that head and intake package, wouldn't I get better performance and a similar price with a non-vortec, aluminum head setup?

You probably won't find alum's for the 1k range, maybe 1200 or so, not certain. But irons, yes. Better out of the box performance than Vortecs.

I'm not dead set on a $1k limit; I'll spend $1500 if I have to. I just want to take a 13 second timeslip to Iraq with me.

Re: Another "which heads" question.
A better cam with the heads would go a long way, then.

If you can't run 13's with that sdparts head/intake kit and a cam like a Comp XE268 or XE274, it isn't the engine's fault.
Remember that sdparts Vortec head/intake kit includes gaskets, bolts, & self-aligning rockers as well. That stuff will add at least $50 to any other heads you get.
I don't know what shipping will be on the head kit, but I bought an LS7 clutch kit from them, which included a new flywheel, and shipping was only about $18 or so.

Re: Another "which heads" question.
I'll upgrade the cam another time, as I just installed this cam and I'm not looking forward to another cam swap (even though I'll be halfway there with the heads and intake off). Wouldn't some cheap stamped steel 1.6 ratio rockers on the new heads do the trick for the time being?
Also, I want to keep my 600 cfm carb on there and not be too undercarbed.
