MSD 8362 correct for roller block?

I purchased a new 383 hydraulic roller engine back in November of 2008 and was sold an MSD streetfire distributer (pn 8362) to go with it. I'm finally about ready to fire the engine and opened up the box. The gear looks just like the iron gear on my old Proform unit for flat tappet engines. My understanding is that mild roller blocks require a steel gear while higher end racing roller cams take a bronze gear. So, I looked up the part number on Summit's site and low and behold it says it is an iron gear for Gen1 motors.I think that I've been sold the wrong distributer. If I can't return it it looks as though I could just order the gear (could have done that with the old Proform one as it turns outAny comments would be appreciated. Thanks,Jon JSD MOD 04/22/09 http://store.summitracing.com/partde...=1&No=20#rstop

Not sure why you put this in the LTX/LSX Engine Swap subforum, or even why in Engine Swap.

Call MSD if it makes you feel any better, but that distributor is fine with factory type roller cams.

Not sure why either. I'm finishing up my LT1 swap and I've got it on the brain I guess.

Called MSD today and they said it was good to go.

Thanks,
Jon
