Interesting. It appears to have a great deal more spark energy.... of course, appearances are not everything. Would love to see some dyno tests, changing only the plugs between runs. Maybe even some long term tests with a look at fuel economy? (yeah, I know, not what most folks on this board are mostly concerned with....)

BTW....I want MPG increase too. I live way out in the country & it's a 40-minute drive ONE WAY to Wal Mart, which seems to be on every corner in the cities.
Well I'm at work for another 16 days. After that I may fork over the dough and try them out . I can always return them. I suppose 200$ is worth a mpg and hp increase. The mpg increase in it's self at this point would pay for them in no time. Maybe i'll try one out in my Ninja assuming they make them for motorcycles too.
This video doesn't seem to be about the pulsar plugs, but, some black box between the distributor, and the spark plugs, I think it noted that they were just using resistor plugs?

I think those are plasma plugs and need that box to power them where as The actual pulstar plug has the plasma thing built into them, hence the 25$ a plug. I remember seeing the in popular mechanics I believe it was and it indeed was an interesting design.
At 25 bucks a pop, they would have to give a DRAMATIC increase in power/economy for them to be even remotely worthwhile.... Wonder how long they last, that would be a major consideration as well....... 200 bucks for PLUGS?!?!?!! I generally don't spend that much on a complete tuneup.... (doing all the work myself though.)
Well the advanceautoparts site says they come with a 4 year replacement warrenty. Apparently the version for our cars is gapped at .35 also instead of the usual .45
So at an extra $175 for a set of plugs for an 8 cylinder, in order to regain the cost in gas milage saved, lets see how much you would need to drive.
Say a standard plug gets you 15/25 and the pulstar gives you a very optimistic 10% increase in economy to 16.5/27.5. Lets pretend you drive half city, half highway. Regular plug gives you 20 mpg on your 16 gallon tank, you will 320 miles out of that tank. Pulstar gives you 22 mpgs on the same tank, giving you 352 miles. On one tank of gas, you saved 32 miles worth of gas, or 1.6 gallons of gas. At an average of $2.50 per gallon, that's $4 savings in gas youve saved by time you fill up. The average use of a car being considered 12k miles per year, you would use 600 gallons of gas, or $1500 on regular plugs, or 545 gallons and $1363 on pulstars. Pulstars would save you $137 over the course of the year compared to the extra $175 you spent on them. This is all assuming a 10% increase in fuel efficiency, which lets face it, is totally unrealistic.
Lets shorten up the calculations and see what other efficieny increases give us. A 5% increase (still a bit unrealistic) gives us a yearly savings of $72, a 3% increase gives us a savings of $43 and a most realistic 2% (imo) gives us a savings of $29 yearly.
So in order to break even, the plugs would need a lifespan (lifespan being operational life span maintaining 100% of their original power in this example to simplify) of 1.3 years at 10% efficiency, 2.6 at 5%, 4 years at 3% and a whopping 6 years at 2%.
I would wonder too if the extra energy these put out is wasted, eventually you reach a point where adding more spark energy has absolutely no effect on efficiency.
Anyway, I was just bored and thought Id throw out some math to pass some time lol. I dont claim to know what Im talking about .
To me personally, Id spend that 175 extra bucks about 10000 other places than sparkier spark plugs.
Lmao, Nice. I'll probably try one in my bike for shits n giggles. Then go from there. Considering it's a single cylinder 250, I'm assuming if there are to be any noticeable gains i'll see it there.
