oil pressure problem?

ok im fairly new to posting here but here we go i am having an issue with a 1990 camaro rs with a 3.1 v6 originaly it ran good but when i moved to ny from maine right after i moved here the alternator died which was cool i changed it with a acdelco brand new alternator ran good for about 15 to 20 minutes then i noticed that the spark plugs and wires should be changed so i changed the plugs, wires, and cap. then i drove it around the block and it kept stalling out ok so i looked at the vacuum lines they were a little rough around the edges so i replaced those and it runs decent at least it isnt really stalling out anymore but now the car shows no oil pressure and i was told to try changing the oil sender but i dont even know were that is can anyone give me an idea were it would be on this type of car?

Sending Information.

The oil sensor sender is located in the lower left side of the engine.

Happy Racing!

How bout those too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime and the ones that need headlights for a little rain

Re: Sending Information.

lol, i have the same problem pretty much and got the same answer, which was good. I assume it'll be easy to spot once i actually go looking for it? From what i understand if you actually had no oil pressure you would know it and be able to hear something seriously wrong, which makes the case for the sending unit being bad stronger.

Re: Sending Information.

Yeah no oil and your motor would commence scraping and clacking and basically just eating itself in a matter of miles. VERY audible.

Re: oil pressure problem?

Eh my pan has a bunch of dings and dents in it. Not your primary cause for concern if you ask me.

Re: oil pressure problem?

Ok I got the new oil pressure sending unit in and it started right up no prblems ran great oil pressure was perfect but I put it in gear and went about 15 feet and it started banging alittle bit so I put it in reverse to back it back into the spot and it was banging quite a bit rumbling really hard and it stalled out and now it won't even start just cranks what could be causing that?

Re: oil pressure problem?

I just ordered mine today, installing it next week hopefully. Please let me know if it fixes your problem since we have the same one. The pressure switch/ sensor ran me 19bucks.

Re: oil pressure problem?

i paid $17 at advanced auto and it did seem to fix the problem but another one arose from the pits of hell. it ran good in park for a good 5 minutes and then i figured i would try and go for a ride so i put it in drive and it hesitated a little bit then it was making a lite banging sound i put it back in park and it stopped so i put it in reverse to get it back into the spot and it started doing it again. so after the parts that ive put in recently which include plug wires, distributer cap and rotor, alternator, oil pressure sending unit but after all those what could be causeing that?
