new cam install problem! help quick!
hey guys
so im in my garage r8igh now putting ym engine together and i got my new lt1 style (i have a tpi) comp cam in thhere and the dowel pin wont let the timing gear line up corrrect, do i need to pull the pin out or am i boned???

The dowel pin won't let the timing gear line up any way but correctly.

its pushing it like 1/4 in to far to one side of all the holes

"for lt1 or l98 engines (pre 1996) the dowel pin in the end of the camshaft must be pushed in so extension from end of cam is .30"+-.01". for 1996 lt1 and lt4 engines, the dowel pin is in the correct position extending .620" from the end of the camshaft"

You have the wrong timing set. you need a timing set for a 87+ engine, that is cleary a timing set for a 86 and below flat tappet engine.
