Re: dome in vortec heads

Yes you will. That "nub" can be ground out,but if you want domed pistons with a 64cc head, you most likely want a larger head anyways.

Why?
What CR are you looking for
Pop up pistons are the old skool way of building compression when there were no small chamber heads around.

Current thinking has you get much better combustion ( more power ) with a flat top or even a dished piston
I would cut the heads or zero deck the block before running domes

Re: dome in vortec heads

i would have to zero deck the block and witha .040 gasket i would have to cut the heads down to around a 56 cc chamber to get the compression i want...i would rather just change a piston and be done with it

Re: dome in vortec heads

Yes,AFTER the "nubs" are ground out, they will clear.
Would a ported and milled set of 305 vortecs with a flattop give you the results your wanting?
I just can't help but feel like if your looking at running 12:1 compression,a vortec head just will not deliver the airflow you need.Just my
