What did I do? Plug/wire change gone wrong.
Car: 87' IROC LB9/700r4
I set out to replace o2, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and the ign module under it.
I did all this however I seem to have made things waaaay worse. the car misses, stalls, backfires through the intake. I have checked the wire order probably 15 times now. On the occasion I can get it to run it will give a code 34 for MAF low voltage.
I went as far to swap everything back on the dizzy to what it was before I started and made no difference.
What in the world could I have done here?

found a bunch of corrosion in the dizzy, ended up replacing that, it will start now, but miss awful and I cannot keep it at any set rpm or it wants to die. wondering if I fouled out my new plugs.

If you replaced the distributor, you need to start from scratch.
1) remove #1 plug
2) put finger in plug hole
3) have someone turn over engine (or bump starter) until you feel pressure on your finger outwards - now you have #1 on compression stroke
4) line up balancer mark with ZERO on the timing tab - now you have TDC #1 on compression stroke
5) replace plug
6) Pull off dist cap - wherever the rotor points, that HAS to be #1 spark plug wire - install it.
7) Follow firing order clockwise on the cap replacing the rest of the wires.
8) disconnect EST wire
9) start car, grab timing light, set timing
10) shut off car, lock down dist, reconnect EST wire

and to add to newbs post
paint a # 1 on the distributor post which is your #1 . That way future owners or repair shops don't get tripped up

ok, I don't know what the heck I did. at this point it can make it sorta run... it still misses and wants to die all the time. I found tdc, got that much figured out I think. I am totally lost at this point.

It's not just finding TDC - you HAVE to find TDC on the compression stroke. Then you HAVE to rerun the plug wires, starting with the #1 wire connecting to the dist cap where the rotor points. Just follow what I typed, step by step, and you'll have it.

I am sure I got it at this point, I tried redoing the wires from being 180* what they should be and it would not run at all like that.

Ok. Got a helper, reset the car to TDC on compression stroke. Did everything to service manual spec. Still missed, backfired and died all over the place.
Got the bright idea to unplug the MAF and everything got better. Runs poor with maf plugged in, unplug it and the idle will fix itself and smooth out. Looks like I know what to do now.
Got the timing dialed in, took it for a spin seems good enough till I pick up a new MAF tomorrow. Of all the things to pick a really odd time to up and die.
