Its time to play name that noise!
New engine <3,000 miles and it has developed a tapping noise near the rear of the engine passenger side.
Bad lifter?
Roller Rocker bad bearing?
Exhaust leak?
Name that noise...
http://youtu.be/bUx46SffctA
P.S. It all started with the first oil change.

adjust the rockers first and take it from there
I would remove the valve covers and let the engine idle and inspect that i had movement from each rocker

Except i really wouldn't let the engine idle with the valve covers off unless you want an engine bay full of oil splatter.
Definatly valve lash though, an exhaust leak would not sound like that. Did you do the valve work?

Re: Its time to play name that noise!
Just got the valve covers off and I am trying to get the engine to warm up. The sound is more pronounced when it is warm. So far I have been lucky no splatter of any kind and all the valves are moving properly. I have not been able to isolate the sound but will begin resetting the valve lash momentarily to one turn past zero lash as recommended by comp cams.
Is there anything else I should look for?

I just did my valves this morning and set them all one turn past 0 lash also. The Chilton and Haynes manuals both say one turn past as well. You've got metal on metal slap contact back there and I dont really see what else it could be. Good luck, let us know what it was.

m y t h. It's how I always do it to multiple cars of mine
you need to increase the rpm's to get splatter.
if you're concerned, used a chunk of cardboard as a splash board
