blown head gasket

Hey, I blew a head gasket on my 84 camaro, has a 350 with mild cam edlebrock performer intake and a 700r4, there is 882 heads on there now, I'm looking to upgrade to either the patriot freedom series, edlebrock 60899 or the RHS heads or something in that price range (800-1000 pair) that i can bolt on and what head gasket do you recommend to use? Thanks

Re: blown head gasket

Call ASA Preformance in Columbus GA... They are the sellers of those heads and they build quite a few engines with them bolted on... Good source of info

Re: blown head gasket

the piston has a slightly raised outer lip with small indents, the deck height is around .048 - .050 if that makes sense

Wow never seen anyone recommend procomp heads. My biggest beef with them is the 210cc intake runners and poor flow for their size. They will give great upper RPM hp but the low end is gonna suffer. You can get 180cc intakes that flow the same or better.

I have these vortec heads and like them a lot

I got free shipping and it looks like they still offer it

I got this kit. The only issue I had is my block was decked so I had to oval my edelbrock manifold bolt holes.
The bolts it came with are ARP

Also heard good things about these

Re: blown head gasket

Midias, i thought the same thing about the procomps. to the best of my knowledge they are a cheap chinnese heads. ive not used them but have read alot of bad reviews about them bending and breaking valves. ive heard if you order them bare and have good parts put in them, theyre o.k.
anything has to be an improvement over the 882s though.
the edelbrocks are at least made in u.s.a. ive seen 1 guy mention that getting up past .600 lift has caused a few studs to break on a few builds. just thought id mention that if your gonna use your heads later on a serious build.
if i had the cash, id go with a.f.r. or dart. very good reputations.
blueprint engines are selling heads now too. one of theyre salesman said theyre made in china but assembled here.
just passing on some info ive read.
