As mentioned earlier, I just bought my first 3rd gen Camaro! 1991 Z28 with 102K miles; 350 Engine. I need to get some new tires, and found a deal on the a set of P225/60 R16s; but the specification say to install P245/50 R16s (Z rated). I am only using this in going to school and work and dont need a Z rated tire. Can I get by with a P225/60 on this car; as long as I am not driving it hard???

A 225/60r16 is 26.7" and a 245/50r16 is 25.7 according to Tire Rack.
All of that set aside don't you think 225,s are a little narrow for the rear.
front 225/55/r16 = 25.7" and rear 245/50r16 = 25.7" looks good

My car had 225s on it when I bought it and I drove it like that for months, you'll be fine. It looks better now with the 245/50/16s but it's not a huge difference as fas as looks go. I think the only thing you'll have to watch would be you speedo, because with the taller tire you'll be going faster than what the speedometer reads. Even still though it would only be a 4% difference.

245s are already too narrow by modern standards; pretty much pizza cutters for any kind of "performance" car. Going narrower is a bad idea all the way around.
225s are 80s and early 90s Mustang tires. Part of the reason why those cars handled like crap and had traction problems.
You can get by with less than "Z" rated tires, but not really with narrower ones, especially not on those wheels.

Don't be cheap on tires. Not saying you should go spending $1600 on a set, but chasing "deals" for tires is usually not a good idea. Get a tire that is optimal for whatever wheel you have on the car. Do you even know what wheels you have?
