Can anyone identify this?

Hi all.

I have posted these pics before but I'm still not sure if the pipes are connected as they should be.
Most (if not all) of the emission stuff has been removed from the engine but this remains.

It goes to the EGR valve I think, but not sure if it should actually go there.
The top pipe goes to it and bottom one just vents to air.

Any ideas and if so what I should do with them?

Cheers.

Re: Can anyone identify this?

The open end should go to a vac source ,usually on the carb

The fitting in the intake is a heat operated (thermo ) valve but I can't tell you what /if any thing may also be between that and the vac port

If you don't have inspection don't do anything , you can even remove the 2 hoses

That dont look right. on my engine those two hoses that come off that (plastic outlet),screwed into intake. what ever you want to call it lol. the bottom hose ran to the canister purge valve. and the top hose ran to my canister.

Re: Can anyone identify this?

Those hoses probably won't matter too much longer anyway, with that death-trap rubber fuel line.

Might as well just get rid of em. Everything they go to is already hacked off, all they are now is dead weight.

Breaks my heart to see a car that young goin bad already.

Re: Can anyone identify this?

I reckon most of the emission control stuff was removed when it was converted to RHD and being here in South Australia, it ain't needed for tests or anything!
If I remove them, can I also remove the green thing then plug the hole up?
what about the EGR bit? Won't that need plugging as well, or connecting to something else?

Cheers.

Re: Can anyone identify this?

Yes you can remove the thermal vacuum switch and put in a pipe plug.

Yes you can remove the EGR valve, since it's not doing anything. Best way to plug it up is to cut a piece of sheet metal the same shape as its base, drill the 2 bolt holes in it, and bolt it down using that spacer that's under it, as a clamp.

But for your own safety, and that of your car, put something more .... survivable.... in place of that rubber fuel line. I'd suggest getting a stick of 3/8" steel brake line, bending it to fit, cutting it to length, and flaring the end.
