Hestiating While Cold: Solved
I want to give everyone a heads up about a "hesitation while cold" problem I was dealing with.
Symptom was while first starting my 1985 LB9 305 TPI in the morning, I would have to let the car warm for 5 minutes or I would get hesitation and stalling while depressing the accelerator. Also, the car would (very rarely) suddenly shut off at random times. I was SURE it was a fuel issue, but it turns out the MSD HEI coil I had purchased new from Summit was defective.
I finally discovered the problem when the car would shut off after getting warm and then fail to start until it cooled down again. After it cooled, it would start.
The coil was replaced and the issues were completely resolved.
I hope this helps!
Thanks

Re: Hestiating While Cold: Solved
I have lost 4-5 MSD 6AL boxes and many of their older tpi style coils.
Have heard the quality has gone even further down hill..
Not a big fan of them

Re: Hestiating While Cold: Solved
My car had an MSD coil on it when I bought it. After the distributor blew up, replaced it with a stocker and it has been good ever since. I NEVER have had good luck with any MSD products.

Well, I didn't buy the "Street Fire" because I read nothing but bad things. I was under the impression that the real MSD stuff was good... I guess I learned my lesson!
Have a stock ignition system in now. Runs fine.
Thanks!
