oil pans

im building a 383 that will see a tad bit of strip time and a bit of road course/ auto-x duty. what pans are most of you using and what brand should i avoid? im looking at 7 qt pans but my concern is header/ pipe clearance at the kick out and starter clearance issues. im using a mini starter for the record.

Re: oil pans

It's supposed to fit in the stock location with stock parts but mine is far from stock.

Re: oil pans

I had the Canton pan on my Iroc with SLP shorties. Clearance was very tight but I had it wrapped for additional heat reduction.

Re: oil pans

Canton 15-244.

https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/ctr-15-244

Plenty of room for the oil filter and long tube headers. Ground clearance is also good (same as OEM).

EDIT: That P/N is for a 2-piece rear main seal. The pan is bumped out at both sides to accommodate the dipstick.
