So, Remember That 334 I talked About Building...?
Posted up about this motor years ago. Got some love, got some hate. Then, I kinda slacked off on maintaining the original post and disappeared for awhile.
Here it is. I built and blueprinted it myself in my basement. Tuned it myself as well with an EBL flash. It's got about 2,000 miles on it now and all is well.
Note that in this video, the coolant temp was about 80F, so you guys are going to hear some piston slap.
Have not tracked or dyno'd it yet, but looking at the datalogs the AFR is all spot on and peaks torque around 4000rpm. Would really love to get some numbers on this thing soon. For everyone wondering the specs on the motor, copied and pasted directly from my maintenance log (Have since done 1.6 rockers on exhaust valves):
- Installed 334 stroker SBC. Blueprinted and Tuned.
- Machine work done by Simon and Pete at Tyson Machine (Hot tank, magnaflux, .030" overbore, New cam bearings and freeze plugs (brass), main journals line honed, rotating assembly balanced.)
- 305 roller block (40k original miles) painted with red VHT. One piece RMS. Oil drainbacks in block radiused and enlarged. Clearanced for stroker crank. Front oil galleries tapped and pipe plugs installed (Timing chain oiling feeds drilled in lifter gallery plugs at .030")
- 2618 forged ICON pistons, 5140 forged Eagle rods, Eagle cast steel crank, Total Seal piston rings, Clevite tri-metal 77 bearings
- Milodon main stud kit with Moroso windge tray and rear pan baffle. Melling M55 oil pump (blueprinted) with 70psi bypass spring
- Comp Cams custom grind (Austempered iron 222/230 @ .050 roller, 110 LSA, .534/.537 lift, 1.050" base circle), Comp Cams short travel roller lifters, Jesel swedged chromoly pushrods, Scorpion 1.5:1 full roller rockers, Comp Cams 918 beehive valvesprings @ 1.8" installed height, *10 valve locks, Comp cams double roller Hi-Tech timing chain installed 4* advanced
- Trickflow Super 23 175 aluminum heads. .015" stainless steel shim head gaskets coated with copper
- 10.47:1 static compression, 8.6:1 dynamic compression
- Moroso 6 quart baffled oil pan, Aluminum 2 piece chiming chain cover
- Ported and siamesed TPI (Flex-honed Superram base manifold, 1.65" ported SLP runners with first 3" of runner divider removed and siamesed, plenum ported to match runners and throttlbody inlets ported to 58mm, Superram throttlebody, 22/lb Bosch III injectors running @ 60psi, Holley AFPR, fuel rail "test port" feed hole drilled out for nitrous use
- Timing curve 36* total in by 2800RPM, VE tables scaled and trimmed for all 12.7 - 13.2:1 at WOT

Congratulations!. Been hoping to read more on your build and awesome maximis you have it running and tuned. A small bore square motor deserves bragg'n rights and with all those parts it's gonna be fun to drive.
That whole car speaks for itself - tricked out and cool to look at and listen to both.
Thx for posting.

It is a very torquey, rowdy little motor. I'm not gonna be big headed and carry my ***** around in a wheel barrel, but it pulls strong and makes good power to 6000rpm (The highest I've spun it was accidentally 6900RPM when I had my foot to the floor at 80MPH, the TV cable was set wrong and the Trans decided to kick down into second. Right before the fuel limiter came in, it wasn't making any power but man was it singing. Lol.
I've tried getting it to hook on the street with a 275 drag radial at 17psi with a burnout and the LCARBs set to the bottom hole. It just blew the tires off all through first singing at 6k and would have sounds through second if I hadn't waited for it to hook up before the shift. 3.73 gears.
The Dyno is going to be the first voyage. Nothing wrong there. I'm hesitant to take it to the track yet, as finances are not in the best order and if I break on a good launch, thd car will end up sitting for awhile.

Nice! Nice to see someone build one. Curious on how it runs and numbers it makes

Ron, definitely good to be back. You just gotta learn to take some people with a grain of salt.
As far as revving videos, I'm working on that. I'll get you guys one of me actually driving it over the next couple of days. Right now I'm fighting with the AC compressor. No matter how tight I tension it, the belt "dances" on the long throw between the water pump and comp and smacks the underside of the radiator hose. I fabbed up an idler pulley, except it currently mounts up a tad cockeyed and threw the belt as soon as I started it. Once that issue is worked out I'll get you guys some more stuff.
Also, hilarious and epic fail moment I discovered the following day after shooting this video.
Sounds good right? The #1 spark plug wire had been left off during this entire video after remounting the compressor and having a blonde moment. Look closely when I walk around to the engine bay and you'll see it hanging

*Blueprints motor, forgets to plug up wires*

Re: So, Remember That 334 I talked About Building...?
Thanks! That's my own newly discovered personal favorite paint scheme. I use low glass black for the base and then go over top of it with VHT Satin clear header paint. Tough as nails. The only catch is it has to be baked at 500F for the paint to fully harden and cure, so your choices of what you can paint are limited by heat tolerance.
