Is it necessary to ground the gas tank?
Hi,
I'm restoring my gas tank with new fuel pump, filters, etc. I painted it with anti rust protector and I'm putting 2 new isolated "gaskets" on top of the tank and 2 on the straps where the tank contacts with chassis ans straps. In this way, the gas tank will be completely isolated of the car's chassis.
What do you think about the static electricity discharge or possible spark at the refueling process in the Gas Station when the methalic nozzle contacts the filler neck?
Thanks in advance,
Denis V.

Yes, you are O.K.
The tank body and the sending unit black wire (ground) are in contact.
Thanks again.
