EGR Solenoid for carb engines

There is a lot of discussion about the EGR solenoid for TPI and TBI engines and some threads on how to use various solenoids from other cars (Vette's, Caddy's).

What I am wondering is if anyone has any information on the EGR solenoid for carb cars? I haven't been able to find any information as to what the voltage should be, whether its normally opened or closed, what the part number was, etc.

I've actually ended up with 2 solenoids (Standard VS18, and one for a Vette), which I will obviously have to make an adapter for. But I'm not sure of they are correct as far as being opened and closed at the right time, etc.

Another question I have, if anyone could help, is that since my car(s) didn't have the solenoid on when I bought them, where does the solenoid mount on the carb cars? Would anyone happen to have a picture or can get one?

I appreciate any help with this. Thanks in advance.

I'm inclined to agree, I've never seen a solenoid for a carb car. All the ones I recall had a thermo vacuum switch

It's Bolted To This Bracket And Then Bolted On With An Intake Manifold Bolt

Re: EGR Solenoid for carb engines

Interesting, I wonder how I've never ran across one. Maybe sneak POs that already 'deleted' it. Or a Cali thing?

Re: EGR Solenoid for carb engines

For some reason I can remember that the emissions decal for both of my car is number YCM if you are interested in seeing the carb'ed emissions with the EGR solenoid.

Thanks @gt4373 for the image. That will at least help me get something located in the engine bay correctly.

Now it's just a matter of digging up the information on the specs of the solenoid. Back to the world of googling....
