Ok, update. I talked to the sargeant on the phone today, and his comment was "jeez, I keep telling her that some of these camaros and firebirds got a slightly different rivet from the usual GM style." Sounds like this is not the first fbody she has sent his way.
He'll do his official inspection on Friday, and I'm confident it will pass.
Anesthes and I are just poking some fun; it's all in fun.
BUT! About the accent thing. We don't talk funny. Ya'll talk funny.

State police are actually pretty cool in Maryland. I got nailed doing 87 in a 55 and he let me go. I also got nailed doing an "excess accelration" deal in a parking lot and when the cop was talking to me I told him I had the worst day in the longest time and some other details. I told him I just need to blow off some steam and I did it in an empty parking lot with no other cars around rather then speeding and acting like an *** on the highway. He let me go as well but I think it was cause he liked my car and everyone has a bad day every once in a while. Maybe you can call the officer and explain the situation. Local police are another matter. My step mother was a high patrol officer in the FL keys... She taught me alot about getting out of tickets...

*** was I gald when Gov. JEB Bush did away with auto inspections in FL; he gets my vote for that he never does another thing. Did it ever occur to that fema-***** that someone may have replaced the dash and had to re-rivet the vin tag? I swear,if you give someone that works at a medial job a little power it goes right to their head, most of the morons that work at auto inspection station can't even spell car!

Too bad your inspection stations aren't like the ones here... No smog, no cats, no EGR... "That's not a problem sir." *extra $20 in hand* Floyd and Grayson Counties have got to be the best places to get your car inspected. "Does it run?" Yeah. "Headlights work?" Yeah. "Not leaking coolant or oil are ya?" Nope. "Well your tires look good... enough. There's your sticker." I seriously hope the best for ya. My rivets aren't as flowery shaped as my brother's and I've never had a problem. Keep us updated... and about your website, when are you gonna update that thing? I've been wondering how your truck is gonna turn out.

Glad to hear! Make sure you document all of this, for the next idiot that inspects your car and cries about the rivets. I'm still shocked that they looked at the rivets. Wow. And I thought NJ inspection was tough.

You will probably have to bend over and take the ticket, pi$$ed or not, the government frowns on people displaying contempt for its authority.

Revenge is a dish best enjoyed cold. After your inspection is approved, you should get in the hags line and stand there laughing at her while she registers your car, and be sure to look at the documents she hands you very carefully to be sure that there are no "typo's"!

Another option is to get a sandwich board and wear it to the registrars and have the details of her inabilities written on the front and back. It's freedom of speech, and as long as you do not use any foul language or say anything that is untrue, nobody can say a word.

Another option is writing a letter to the local newspaper's pages of opinion and go on a mild rant about how the BMV employees are poorly trained and/or incompetent.

Or if you want to chance going to jail, liquid margarine works wonders on asphalt, and it won't readily catch fire

Challenge the ticket in court. What's the worst that is going to happen.

You're beyond the point of salvaging your relationship with this woman (she's a spurned lover I'm sure of it!) and she was tattling on you!

She needs to be put in the corner.

Seriously, home town "snobs" suck! They are everywhere. They all want to be the last people in their precious little corner of the earth...and anybody that is there after they are should just GO BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM!

It really does suck and is actually discrimination! There are way too many law suits already, but my goodness you can certainly see why when some little ****-ant government official can run you through the ringer like she has!

She needs a mercy screw! Get vicious with it! Z-rated.

Yeahhh, that was months ago! Update: there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car or the rivets, and after a long chat with the DA, the ticket was dismissed! Happy ending!
