Put the pipe down. I know this is a thirdgen camaro site, but a 92 Z28 will never beat a Vr4 any day. Sorry not gonna happen. The AWD will take him off the line, and the turbo will take him up top. Your gonna have to do some minor mods to run with a VR4

those things are heavy. you wont *** rape him but its a low 14 second car, a z is a mid 14 second car. it will come down to how you can launch your Z.

I agree. A stock VR-4 should take a stock 3rd gen 350 TPI.
A VR-4 should be running mid 13s to high 13s. You are probably running mid 14s. Even though you have more torque than he does it doesn't matter because he has AWD and 320 horses to your 230-240.
Anything that is non-turbo you will take. A 3000gt SL makes 222hp and runs mid 15s.
Race him either way. Win or lose. Good luck.

The non-turbo 3000GT's are slow. Sure they have 225HP, but they have 200 or so TQ and weight something like 3600 pounds. Some of my easiest wins have come against cocky kids in 3000GT's.

Vr-4's are a different story. ANything with turbos is VERY easy to modify to make go faster. Stock he might be slightly faster than a '92 Z....but he can still crank up the boost on his turbos..and you can't

a VR4 will be a close race at best if you get a good launch and his 3000GT is unmodified.
If it's non turbo, you will kill him. I beat one a few years back in my 89 Iroc 5.7 w/200lbs Stereo weighing me down. I beat him BAD. Those 3000's look cool, but no turbo=no power.

stock for stock a VR4 would win

also if it is a VR4 they should be very easy to mod since it is turbo

Gotta love the faith some camaro owners have in our 3rd gen "Race Cars"
But the fact of the matter is that a VR4 3000GT will Sh*t on any stock 3rd gen. Lets be reasonable guys, they run mid 13's stock.. a 350 TPI runs what? mid 14's? And with AWD you just dump and run, I'd do afew things to your Z before you race him unless you like to get embaressed by the 3000GT's sick hole-shot. LoL

Even the VR4 sucked

All wheel drive only truly decimates in things like skylines (atleast stock). The 3000GT was a big joke, simply put. I was looking into one before I got my IROC. Saddly the thing looks like a ferrari, but moves like a honda. Even with that said.. you'd still get your *** kicked by a VR4. It would be badass if someone made an AWD camaro. I can only imagine what it would be like to see 4 tires burning out simultaneously.

riiiiight man, drive a well maintained VR4 and you'll change your mind, hate to say it but a L98 Fbody won't touch one in stock form assume the VR4 driver can drive...

and BTW i'm not an import "lover" i respect fast cars that aren't riced out and i respect nice cars in general

i'm a die hard american muscle fan and will always own a fbody, but i don't hate on a car because its not a GM, if its fast it gets my respect, if its riced out or if its even an american car that's owned by a dip**** that thinks his car is the fastest out there or owned but a dumb ignorant **** that thinks because its not a GM its ****

just wanted to clear that up, that is all you may now return to your regularly(sp) scheduled programming

I just want to say there is a difference between being proud of your car, and having you head shoved shoved up your cars ***

the ppl who are proud of there car will admit that ther are cars out there faster. import or not.

those who have there heads shoved up there cars ***. well I think we can just look at you for that one. and just to go into a little further detail here. in this area alone as far as imports I have seen 2 rx-7 that are running in the 12´s. one of them is getting a t60 for his car and that should put him near the low 11´s I am assuming.

I know of atleast one TT supra that is prolly close to mid 12´s

a turbo honda civic that is running high 13´s

a ferarri F50.... do I even need to say what it runs.

a lambo countach

ferarri testerossa

a few porsche 911TT

a eclipse that runs high 11´s

a nissan skyline (unknown times but who the hell pays that much to have one shipped then doesn´t touch it)

I have heard about a SC NSX in the are also he is prolly good for low 13´s if not better

and there are quite a few more I am missing

but if you are so proud of your car I would like to see you take any of them over to germany, italy, england, or even :gasp: japan and see how you do there

Obviously you did not even read what I said. You would easily get your *** kicked by a VR4. I watched my buddy get his *** handed to him in a C5 that does 13's by a WRX, (note, a HIGHLY modified WRX) simply due to the beauty of AWD. Even with Yokohama Z-rated's and drag radials, the C5 had no traction whatsoever. Having XXXX amount of HP don't mean a damn thing if you have no traction. So ultimately 3000 GT = Pathetic, too damn heavy, the 3000 seems to mean 3000 pounds . The VR4 Kicks some *** at 320 HP, but its still too damn heavy for an import (IMO), i'd rather have a skyline

...Being new to the board, let me give a huge "Laughing Out Loud" to the 2.8 "race car" LOL, man, any 2.8 that even gets down the 1/4 period is hardly believable, let alone one that runs 15.1..
So i'll have to call.. untill I can see a timeslip, video, picture, and every other sort of "Proof" possible.

2.8.. 15.1.. BWAHAHAHAA
