94' Formula vs 93' Cobra

ok, a bit of history first:

the 5.0 Mustang basically dominated the ponycar wars in the 80s and the early 90s. then in 93', GM threw Ford a curveball and introduced the LT1 fbody. suddenly, fbodies were on top. however, Ford had a limited run of Cobras in 93. sure, a standard 5.0 couldnt beat a LT1 fbody (considering equal drivers), but could this factory modded 5.0 do it?

ive decided to simulate this race of ponycar supremacy. my newly aquired Formula (auto, 3.23s) vs my friends immaculate 100% bone stock 93' Cobra. my bird has a K&N cold air intake, but also has 112k on the clock. i think the intake is fair game because my car has so many miles and probably isnt as powerful as the car would be brand new... while the Cobra has a scant 11k on it. so, which car is faster down the 1/4 assuming equal drivers?

and for reality, i dont think my friend can drive stick all too well in a race type situation (he never races), while, not trying to sound cocky or anything, my driving skills are pretty good. i think i would win if he actually dusts the car off and wants to go

Other than rarity, I didn't think the 93 Cobras were much faster than a stock 5 spd/5.0

If a 93 Cobra in fact runs a 14.5 then you should have him...

93 cobra should be faster than that...
They had a different cam, gt40p heads, 1.72 rockers, but have the hypercraptic pistons. They also have the intake... The only downfall is the crappy 93 cobra computer.. if he can drive at all, i seem him taking you.

i raced a 93 cobra...this cocky @ss kid with his girl in his car pulls up next to me and starts talkin all this crap...hes like "hey get that peice of **** off the road" im like "wtf did u say, man f#ck you"...his girl kinda dropped her jaw..i guess he was a tough guy ...he shut up after that i started throwin revs so i slid her into first and watched the light..it went green and i side stepped the clutch at 2,400 and hammered it...i got him out of the hole and kept the lead all the way through first...all through 2nd we were dead even and into third we went... i screwd my 2-3 shift so he gained the ground back went to the top of third and we were door to door...i got out of the hole better so if i wouldt of screwed my shift i would of won...

after that he was talking more **** when we got to the next light..i said not to bad for a peice of **** huh...i rolled my passenger window up smiled...

i have a 91 305 5-speed...so if i can "hang" then youll wax him

The 1993 Cobras are usually low 14 cars. I have seen high 13s a few times from them, at Mustang events! Yes all stock (most are kept all stock, or very close).

This would be a very close race between the two if he could drive.

f-crazy, no offense, but I find it hard to believe that you screwed up a shift and still beat or kept even with a 1993 Cobra. Unless you trap 99-100 I don't see it, unless that guy missed two shifts!

I had the honor of running a '93 Cobra at the track. Earlier that night I saw him run a 14.2@98 so I figured it would be a good run. Asked him for a run he agreed and I beat him good with a 14.0@98 to his 14.7 @98. The guy cut a bad light and a worse 60ft, I think he got a little over anxious.

Anyway, I'm not sure if he had any mods but thats around LT1 territory. Should be a good run if the driver is good.

Ford only rated the '93 Cobra at 235HP...but Cobra owners dynoing their cars found the figure was about 260HP at the crank. They run about low 14's stock.

My only complaint about the '93 Cobra was it's weight. I think it should have been based on a lighter notchback body. I can feel the slight difference in weight when i drive a GT vs. my LX.
