holy **** that's terrible. seriously, for the TWO SECONDS it takes to fasten your seat belt, just do it. and for the love of CHRIST don't be one of these idiots that goes removing his airbags so you can have some stupid console where the bags were. and like the guy said...if you really want to race, take it to the track. for your sake and the sake of others.

that is a sad story, but too often this happens, street raceing and people that dont wear their seatbelts. I had to learn this the hard way about 8years ago, i spent the night in jail for street raceing and havent been street raceing from that time. That was the wrong way to learn a lesson. I work on a lot of cars and most i know will be on the street raceing, possibly while I am on the street. I learned how bad a driver I was when i went through truck driving school in 97, and how inportant seatbelts are. I have lost friends in the past for the same reason as the story above....Please be smart and keep it on the track, and if you dont know where a track is in your area i'm sure there is someone on this board or on others that can get you the info you need.......sorry for the long post....have a safe holliday season.

Its bad enough that they were racing and horible that they werent wearing seat belts, but why in the **** would a race mean enough to you to drive off of the road at that kind of speed? I dont think I could have handled seeing that myself.

The "Age of Degeneration". Started in the early 90s.
First off, that little move of swinging onto the shoulder is used frequently around here...But...
There is very little high speed street racing around here. Very little. There is, however, very reckless, inconsiderate driving. All because of who and what these people are outside of there vehicles: Pot heads who love, care for, worship nothing else but their habits... or old dried up self-consumed biggits who care for no one but themselves. Well, some people are born with that quality and others give it to themselves. I wasn't born with the quality to care- but I now have that good quality.
I have been bashed by many people for doing the low end stop light wars that I do. These same people drive 75 everywhere. Oh, but at least they don't race to the speed limit. Know this: I am the same inside my ride as out. I care, I'm safe, I'll not intentionally hurt people. In fact, I have saved several people from wrecks in the past. All because, true, I have the know how and the skills perhaps earned the wrong way...but I care. That is the most important quality of a driver. You have to care. If you don't care, get the **** off of the road or may you die before you can turn the key.
I'm sorry, I'm not a violent person, but just read the story. That shoulder move, also could have been an incoming traffic swerve...was learned by a gullible dimwit after watching FAF. There parents have some blame in this

i have that same naked feeling also.its kinda of like an uncomfortable, insecure feeling.i just like the feeling of being in motion in a car and being secure at the same time.
about street racing itself,my take on it is that yes it is unsafe.yes it can injure, mame, and kill.even the innocent.but its not going to stop because of it.i admit i do street race.but not up to stupid high speeds.and i dont do it through traffic.and i dont do it near bystanders.i do it up to no more than 20 mph above the speed limit in that area.but going that high is rare.the highest ive gone up to was 75-80 in a 35.and it was at night to make it stupider.but there was no traffic.and it was in a straight line.and it was a rush.i loved it.and thats why its not going to stop, because of the rush and the sense of power and ego you feel during those few seconds.anyone that says "i dont street race and never will" really is missing something,as bad as that may sound.it CAN be safe to do.screw anyone that thinks otherwise.you race from a light, with no traffic in front of you, make sure you know the area and that its not too populated with pedestrians, and take it up to 40-50.you let off the gas and hit the brakes.and sooner than you know it its done.and it was fun.it was a rush.and you want to do it again.i can vouch for this, and i know theres alot of other people here than can agree with me,even if they wish to not say so themselves.but im not afraid to say that i enjoy street racing.but i dont condone high speed racing or racing in a heavily populated, heavy traffic area.THATS stupid.
oh yeah another reason its not going to stop.3 words friends.LACK OF TRACKS.which is why im going to try and get some kind of track opened up around my area.if i had a track 10 minutes or closer from me,i would NOT street race.im sure others feel the same way.just like that one kid on that "MTV True Life Im A Street Racer" show said,"If i had a track to go to,i probably wouldnt street race".but until the NO TALENT A*SCLOWNS that run our sad ignorant government realize this, street racing will live.
I'm done.

Exactly.
But a race track WILL NOT be set up here unless I orchestrate it myself. Why? Because most of the government cares nothing for the life that is being wastes. What they do know is that if there was a race track around close that was easy to use...well, that would take away some of the money they get out of the pockets of the racers and speeders...and sometimes someone just wants to let go for a while. But there is nowhere to do that, because the government twists your arm into doing something illegal.
Don't count on any help from them to get the track started, friend.

well Im hoping to have the state possibly fund part of it,although i doubt it would ever happen.as you said they just want us to keep racing, and killing, hurting people,so they can get their money out of us by the way of tickets, hefty fines, ect ect.its a sick, sick,SICK thought that they are willing to sacrifice the lives of people that just want to have some fun,but thanks to our great FU(KING DEMOCRACY that we have sooo much freedom in,we cant even get a simple 1/4 mile of pavement laid down to get the racing off the streets and into more of a controlled enviroment .hell i could care less about getting a timing system and all that jazz.all i want is a place to grudge race.
So until then...LONG LIVE STREET RACING AND FU(K DA POOOLICE!

WEAR SEAT BELTS *** DAMN IT!
the casualties could have been avoided if the people that died were wearing seat belts. There are people tht street race responsibly, and there are people that street race unresponsibly and with no respect for other people on the road. I street race, I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I do it where there are no other cars present, and I usually make a saftey run before racing to see whats going on in the area. Rarely do I race in the spur of the moment. This will make me think twice every time I decide to race the guy next to me.

I agree on the seat belt thing... I feel so naked without it, I have the most uncomfortable, uneasy feeling about it.
Good job on the vid, bet he felt real special. Sure it could've been much worse as with the story posted.

Im not sure where alot of you folks live, where I'm from Street Racing is still popular, but where im at they usually dont run in down town they go about 10 miles into the Ga country side and race...not any better but a little different....the thing that i tell people aside from the fact your putting your life, the other drivers life, and any bystanders life, as well as other drivers lives into your hands...thats alot of distraction just in the racers minds not to mention road conditions and cops....So you might win..but you cheat yourself and it doesnt prove s**t because on the race track is where its all at...just because your bad on the street doesnt mean your **** on a race track, where we dont have to worry about nothing except going fast and having fun...i guess the difference is..do you want an adrenline rush or a trip to the hospital or jail...?

I agree, but don't let automatic belts spoil you. The Topaz automatically straps you it. Well the shoulder belt does anyway. But the shoulder belt sucks and the lap belt is alot better.
Anyway, after driving this Topaz for a while and not the Crown Victria...well, it kind of messed me up. RPM and everything. I got used to being automatically belted and hearing a certain RPM...
So here I am in the Crown Victoria, fying down the highway at 75-80 with the horrible sense that something was wrong...All of a sudden, I figured it out...I wasn't wearing my seatbelt. So I slowed the car down to about 45 maybe 30, and put the belt on, quickly. There was absolutely no one else on the highway at the time. Not for miles anyway. It's an old country highway.

I never saw the point of the automatic seatbelts.... because they tell you not to use the shoulder belt by itself anyway.... even on the labels inside the car (was that way on my parents' 90 Escort...) So why bother? Just make it one piece and put it on!

I hate to read stories like that more than almost anything else. It waters my eyes. NOBODY deserves that.
As much as these stories depress me, they **** me off because of all the stupid people out there. Just makes me want to slap the **** out of some people. I hate stupid people.
ps. The import or ricers aren't the only stupid ones. There are plenty of just equally stupid domestic guys out there too.
