lt1 vette vs. me
i bought a slightly modded 91 formula 350 about a month or so ago, anyways, i wanted to see how it could do. first i race my friends 79 formula ws6 (actually pretty quick for a smog machine, ran low 15s) and needless to say i beat him pretty badly. well the next race was against a 90 supra turbo auto, the guy just bought the car 4 days ago and he wanted to race something fast so everybody told him to race me. we go from a 20 roll and on the third honk, i destroyed him through first and pulled on him hard, but still was a good race. now on to the best race, my friend has his dad's 92 vette 6 spd (his car is in the shop, 1970 challenger r/t 383, real nice) and i would really like to see how i fare against a high 13/14 flat car, so we go from a 20 roll, on the third honk we both gun it and i instantly pull half a car on him and all the way to 90 or so, i stay 1/2 a car ahead. that was hands down the best race ive had, i didnt think my formula had that much power in it. needless to say it was a very fulfilling night (the vette also destroyed some imports like a heavily modded civic si and jetta 1.8t and even destroyed a brand new 2002 or so gt pretty badly)

yeah, i thought that lt1 vettes were quicker than that, but i think he is having some problems with the vette though, it has 80k miles on and still has the stock clutch, its his dad's daily driver. its still a nice car though, but there is something amiss in it. i didnt think lt1 vettes could get down to low 13s, but i guess i stand corrected. it was still an awesome race, too bad theres not many good cars in town to race or are willing to race, mainly imports just trying to look fast.

when i say slightly, i mean very slightly modded, it has a hypertech chip (which i heard sucks but i could be wrong), pulleys, gutted cats, and cold air intake, i added a shift kit when i bought the car, ill soon have headers and 1.6 rocker arms soon, so that should help, im aiming for 13s right now, but i dont know if ill make it or not.

ok
Hypertech's are good. You have some mods that should have you in the mid-low 14's now. Gutted cats but no cat back??? Do you chirp the tires with that shift kit???

yeah, i dont get why the guy didnt put a new muffler on, but thats just him. im probably gonna put a hooker aerochamber muffler on to go with my hooker headers. about the shift kit, it works quite well, i break loose pretty easily on the 1-2 shift and have even got some wheel spin in the rain on the 2-3 shift. i have the same kit on my 91 rs and it worked wonderfully on that too, it shifted extremely hard.

i have a B&M, i know alot of people say go for the trans go and i did have one in my RS, but i thought it was awful (couldve been the tranny shop's bad installation). so i decided to switch out for the B&M on my old RS and that thing could bark gears easily so opted for the B&M in my formula and have been very pleased with it. BTW, i put about 2k or so miles on my RS with that kit in it and it runs as strong as ever and it is still driven every now and then, but the formula is more fun to drive for obvious reasons.

i've seen a few stock LT1 vettes with 6 speeds run 13.6's easily some down to 13.3's on a good pass.
you got to wing them LT1 vettes up to around 3000 rpm to launch good and get the best 60' times.
