How bad will I get ripped by a '90 Z?
My friend just bought a '90 300ZX. It's got some **** accessories, but it's a good looking car. He doesn't know much about it either, but here's what we do know.
It's a '90 300ZX, 4-wheel disk, dual fart pipes, twin cam, t-top, and it's a stick. It also has Nitrous, but he won't use it when we race. It's a new car to him, so he hasn't broken it in yet.
Here's my mods (if you can call them that ):
stock LO3 save a K&N, no thermostat, and an oil leak
Beefed up 700R4 with shift kit and corvette servo (stock convertor).

I think you will get him off the line but I think he will beat you. I would not say it would be a murdering because I hear those cars are pretty heavy. The two cars probably make about the same power as well with you having the torque advantage. But in the end, you will lose.

Well, that's about what I expected. Here's the stats on his car:
It's had an extensive build up starting at 60,000 miles with a tune-up followed by timing belts, new clutch, water pump, new belt tensions and finally new cam seals and springs. Performance Mods: NOS w/80 wet shot, bottle heater and gauge, Stillen headers, Blitz stainless steel cat-back exhaust, K&N intake, Unorthodox Racing pulleys, Power Train 1 piece aluminum drive shaft, RPS sports clutch and flywheel. Suspension Mods: Grex Lowering Springs, Front struts, Stillen Front Camber Control Arms, Greg Dupree sub frame spacers. Brakes: Silver-zinc plated/slotted/dimpled Brembo rotors, Technafit Stainless steel brake lines, PBR metal master brake pads, ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid. Sound System: Sony CDX M650 CD/MD Player, 4 Pioneer Bose 3 way speakers, 10" sub w/custom enclosure and amp. Wheels and Tires: 18" Konig Verdict Wheels, new Kumho rear tires w/ about 500 miles on them (245/40ZR/18) Body Kit: Wings West "W" type facia and skirts, Veilside CII Rear under spoiler, Wings West Mid Wing w/LED, Z emblem and Z decals Interior: Aluminum dash kit, Trust shifter and ****, White face gauges, Titanium key, remote alarm w/ aftermarket alarm, keyless entry, remote start, silver painted mirror, blue painted calipers
Damn! That's a lot. I got it off the Auto Trader site, that he bought it from.

a buddy of mine had a cat back from aerospeed, pop charger, UR crank pulley, upgraded clutch....he was running a 15.5-15.4 then he crashed it into a pole and totalled it......so your buddy is proably in the low 15's to maybe...high 14's with slicks....with nitrous and slicks, maybe high 13's.....AARON

I myself have driven that exact year and make of car, and at the same time I owned a 26000 mile 92rs LO3 5 speed, my opinion is the rs will rip it off the line but the 300 will eat it up on the top end...the 300 felt heavy to me....

i've driven that same car too, only it was the TT but neither of the turbo's where working? Didn't get a good impression of the 300z, but would guess that you would loose. Sorry man, can't win them all

It's ok if I lose, he's a cool guy. His other car is a jet black '92 RS. He just got the big block hood on his Camaro, then he wrecked it . Here's a pic of the Z. Dual Fart pipes, are very annoying, but overall a clean car. Oops, that was a crappy pic.
